Trying to create a virtual Easter egg hunt for quarantined family.  Years of experience on Illustrator. New to InDesign.

 - Want hidden eggs (and non eggs)  to pop up when mouse hovers.

 - Creating images as pdfs.

 - Do not want hyperlink which jumps to another page.

 - Learning was easier 40 years ago.

Thanks

Sure.  Give me a bit.Process was trial and error, and I needto figure out what I did.

- Create multi layer file in InDesign

- Turn of visibility to all layers except base layer

- EXPORT as interactive pdf - be sure to click on save layers box

- Open file in Acrobat

- EDIT pdf - find LINK tool

- open the Layers dialog box - pancake on left

- click on box next to the first layer you want to activate

- click "LINK / ADD/EDIT web or doc"

-crosshair tool should appear.  Create shade box over item, (You will have a chance later to adjust box. Don't worry if not perfect.)

- When you release mouse, dialog box will appear

- "INVISIBLE RECTANGLE" / "NONE" / "NEXT"

- You now have opportunity to adjust your rectangle

- "SET LINK"

-Turn off layer

- You will see black outline of rectangle, but it will go away when fie is saved and opened in Reader.

- When you play the game, only one item will be revealed at a time.

- There may certainly be a better way to do this, but this worked for me. Let me know if any instructions need clarification.  Have fun.

You can set a button to Show/Hide fields in a PDF using InDesign, but there is no tool to Show/Hide layers.

For that you have to finalize the PDF with Acrobat Pro.

Hi Would you be able to post a rough outline of your process? Was looking to create this type of thing too.

Thanks

You can create InDesign (or Illustrator) layers in your PDF and use buttons to show or hide the layers.

Here is a DropBox link to a sample interactive PDF showing how it works, there are basic instructions on page 2.

Come back here if you get stuck, or have a look in the Acrobat forum.

Note, the viewer will need to use Acrobat or Reader to take advantage of the interactivity.

This video from Adobe Evangelist Terry White may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtKbisIoSkw.

You also might want to explore Show/Hide fields.

Thank you.  Video seems promising.  Believe I was trying to go too quickly.
