JavaScript Fehler (InDesign Creative Suit 6)

New Here ,
Aug 04, 2019 Aug 04, 2019

Hallo allerseits,

LG

Aylin.

What Mac operating system are you using? CS6 is not supported for any Mac OS later than Yosemite (10.10). If you are using a later version of the Mac OS then your problem is probably the result of that.

The error is from a startup script. You can disable by removing the converturltohyperlink folder and its contents from your Scripts folder

I removed the folder as you said. Now the error window doesn't show up. But I still can't open the files through finder. I have to open it from InDesign itself. And also I can't quit without forcing. Now I will try to delete line 100, as I read in the internet somewhere. Hope this will help.

You might try deleting your preferences.

If you don’t want or use startup scripts, make sure your startup scripts folders is empty: /Applications/Adobe InDesign CS6/Scripts/startup scripts and there are no startup scripts folders inside of your Scripts folder.

You or another user must have installed them—a regular InDesign install doesn’t include any startup scripts. As the name implies, a startup script would run any time InDesign starts up. They often include listener code that listens for a user action (i.e Print) and then performs a task.

You don’t have to delete them, you could simply move them out of the InDesign folder and they wont run on the next startup.

Hi Aylin,

this startup script is a regular feature of InDesign CS6.

Hyperlinks Panel > Convert URLs to Hyperlinks

In Deinem deutschen InDesign:

Hyperlinks > URLs in Hyperlinks konvertieren…

Removing the startup script will remove the function or ability to convert URLs to hyperlinks.

No idea why the error pops up. Could be that your InDesign CS6 is no more compatible with the version of your operating system. Or some components of your operating system.

Regards,
Uwe

Hi Uwe,

Thanks for your reply, I also think this problem is caused by the latest OS version. But then I shouldn't be the only one who has this problem. I put the converturltohyperlink folder in the scripts folder again.

Sorry I didn't include the legacy Java link with my last post:

Download Java for OS X 2017-001

What version of OSX are you using?

Uwe, is right, I misread the path in your error capture. The Scripts folder structure would look like this:

Screen Shot 19.png

Screen Shot 20.png

It also opens the window to install "Java for OS X 2015-001" from time to time, but this is not possible.

The install "Java for OS X 2015-001" refers to Java not Javascript, but it could be part of the problem. For CS6 to run on newer versions of  OSX you need to install the legacy version of Java. Here's the Apple download page for Java 6.

I put the converturltohyperlink folder in the scripts folder again. Can you put the link from the download page for Java6 in this post? I wanted to install Java6 but it says I have newer versions of Java, that's why it does not install. Do I have to delete the newest version? But this would also cause trouble with other programs I think. Bildschirmfoto 2019-08-05 um 18.52.30.png

Here is the link. Download Java for OS X 2017-001

The installer Read Me should be this "Install Java for macOS 2017-001":

Screen Shot 25.png

I installed it to run CS6 on High Sierra, and it doesn’t get in the way of newer apps, but I can understand why you would be cautious. I make a clone of my OS with Carbon Copy to test things like this. I’m guessing you’ll have problems with CS6 if you don‘t drop back to Java6. The next OSX upgrade will be 64bit only so CS6 will not run at all when you do that upgrade.

I'm using 10.14.5 OS system. Also downloaded the legacy but nothing happend. The window with the error still opens. As I had delete the converturltohyperlink, the window didn't showed up.

Now I read your newest post and yes I think it is because of the latest OS. I will go back to High Sierra then
