Question

No GPU support for Macbook Pro mid 2012 with Geforce 650m chip on Catalina?

As others have noted, InDesign is very slow right now.

I am on a

MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012) with

2,6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1 GB

Is there any chance the olden Nvidia Chips will be supported in InDesign as they are technically OpenGL 4.1 capable?

I cant work like this at all right now.

{Have cleaned all caches, resetted everything, all software with the latest updates.}

Any help is very appreciated!

Hi there,

Sorry about the inconveince caused. GPU performance in InDesign was introduced in recent versions and is available to very few devices minimum of 1024 MB of VRAM (2 GB recommended). For example:

  • iMac 4K
  • iMac 5K
  • MacBook Pro Retina
  • Mac Pro connected to a HiDPI monitor
  • Mac mini connected to a HiDPI monitor

For more details, you may refer to this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/gpu_performance.html#gpu_system_req).

Regards,

Srishti

That machine is eight years old! If you think GPU support will speed it up, I have bridge you may be interested in purchasing.
