Recent Files list shows file I did not open

My Recent Files list shows the name of a file I did not open.

To be certain, I cleared my recent files list (as suggested in other posts) and reopened InDesign so it would show zero files in the recent files list. I then opened the last file I had worked on and closed it. My recent files list now shows the document I opened AND a second document that I have not opened in weeks. The second document is listed as having been opened at the same time as the first document, but I did not open it. ~~ In the big scheme of things, this is not highly important but it is annoying. Also, because this is a series of catalogs for which different versions exist for each catalog, it makes it possible that the wrong file will be selected for editing when using the Recent Files list.

How can this be fixed?

InDesign is CC version 15.1.2.

OS = Windows 10

I relinked the content to a new source file that is the same version of InDesign and reset the Recent files list. Now it seems to work normally. It seems (I'm gues

It seems (I'm guessing) that InDesign was virtually opening the source file in the background to maintain the linked data because the source file was an older version. That appears to be the logical conclusion.
