Question

Rollover button not working in preview

Hi all,

This is my first time working with buttons in InDesign (latest CC on a PC).  I'm trying to get a button to show an image/text box (will be using both) on rollover, but when I click preview I get the finger pointer on the rollover but the other button doesn't show up.  I've followed the tutorials to the letter and searched the forum for help but nothing previously posted seems to work.  It also doesn't work with preview online, publish online, or any of the other ways I can find to test the action.

Being a new user it's probably something really simple but I cannot find it!  Can anyone help!?

Thanking you in advance,

All the best

Dom

please share the screenshot with Buttons&Forms panel open at your button selected and with Preview window to see the situation.

Hi there, thank you for responding!  Screenshots as requested:

On this last one, obviously you can't see the cursor but it's placed over the Ygdrassil text and is showing the finger pointer correctly, but nothing else is happening!

I've tried various settings - changing it to a click, release etc. but every time it just shows the finger pointed like it should work, but the other button doesn't appear.

Thank you for your help!

Ok, thanks.

Now look pls carefully at the Button's properties. You have there only 1 appearance for your button, the Normal one. If you want to have another look for rollover, you have to create it.

1. Keeping the button selected, choose Rollover line on the Buttons&Forms > Appearance section

2. Change the button. For example, you can add the fill to the text box, apply an effect or change the font color.

The third line, Click, is not so interesting unless you want to have some special effect just at the moment of button pressing.
