Set on "Start Section" and can't change—Locked: Duplicate post

Both of my books, both in CS6 and CC2020 have been stuck on "Start Section" which means that they no longer update page numbers for the book.

I started on my latest book in CS6 and I continued it from a previous edition, so it all worked fine. Once I updated to CC2020, all page numbering stopped working properly, I sent it back to CS6 as an IDML -- problems persist.
