WARNING! InDesign CS6 and Earlier Are Incompatible with macOS Catalina

A WARNING TO MACINTOSH USERS WHO ARE THINKING ABOUT TESTING MAC OS CATALINA:

Some Macintosh users like to test new beta versions of macOS. Apple introduced macOS Catalina to developers at the World Wide Developers Conference this week. Currently only developer builds are available but it's inexpensive to become a developer and some people like to try "new stuff." The public beta builds will arrive in July.

Read this from MacRumors:

Hands-On With macOS Catalina - MacRumors

"Notably, macOS Catalina does away with 32-bit app support, so some of your older apps are going to stop working. The operating system will let you know which apps are now defunct once you upgrade."

Apple has been pre-announcing this change for a year or two but now it's beginning to happen.

INDESIGN CS6 AND EARLIER ARE 32-BIT APPLICATIONS AND WILL NOT RUN UNDER MACOS CATALINA.

InDesign didn't update to 64-bit until the earliest version of InDesign CC.

You could go back if you had made a complete backup of your system onto a drive using backup software (Time Machine, Carbon Copy Cloner, or whatever). That's ALWAYS recommended for major updates.

Why can't you subscribe for example Illustrator CC a bit cheaper ... like you do with lightroom and photo shop CC ... I can't afford all of the programs

    Thanks, Steve.

As noted, Apple has been very clear about this for quite some time. At some point, it’s time to move forward.
