Update 10/16/2023 - Midday - Central Time (US)

The issue has been traced to a server issue on our end and is not a failure of the Lightroom Classic update itself.  This issue has been rectified.

This means that the previous recommendation for this issue is to perform a clean reinstall of 13.0.1, is still the correct resolution as you may have residual files from previous attempts to install present on your system.

There is no additional update (i.e., waiting for 13.0.2) that is necessary to corr

Hi everyone!

I´ve been using LR Classic and updated the desktop version to 13.0.1.  I am using Mac. After that it seems that every time I try to launch the application, it gives me the "Adobe Lightroom Classic suddenly quit" announcement and the options to either report or not to report about the crash.

Anyone else having the same issue? Should I just remove the whole application and download it from the CC again? Will that destroy my photolibrary structure, presets, keywords etc?

Thanks.

Hi, check out the pinned response at the top - if you've not found it already, Uninstalling via the Adobe application and reinstalling 13.0 worked for me.

@digital paradise  This post is unrelated to this thread. In any case, with the instructions provided I cannot reproduce the WB behavior described. It would be far better to start this as a new discussion in Lightroom Classic Discussions with more complete information.

Thanks!

I was not going to do the suggested procedure and wait for 13.0.2 but I decided to try it on my 2019 iMac Intel. It worked. 13.0.1 is runnnig.

@ Rikk. Instead of starting a new thread the syncng Color Mixer syncing worked for me. I suspect the users forgot to check the Color Mixer, Mixer and Point Color boxes. I've passed that on to them.

I couldn't get 13.01 to open either, so I installed version 13 from the Adobe apps and it is running perfectly again. Reluctant to try the 13.01 !

This did not resolve the issue for me. In fact I don't have any edit in PS available now from LRC.

This morning I updated to v13.0.1 and now LrC crashes as soon as I open the app. (Immediately after the update completed I tried to load LrC and it got through "initializing Lightrom Classic section and then crashed.) After multipl attempts with th same result I tried restarting my system, then logged out out of Creative Cloud account and back on, to no avail. I've run through all the options on the "fix crash issues for Creative Cloud apps" page. My desktop machine is a 2015 iMac running Monterey 12.6.9. Photoshop loads and runs without difficulty as does Bridge. I even tried to uninstall LrC but that proc just hangs and spins its wheels.

Coincidentally, yesterday I loaded 13.0.1 on my laptop (2019 MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.4.1) and LrC won't even load. When I click on the app icon with Force Quit active I see a brief flash as if it's tried to open, but it immediately disappears and does not execute.

I just tried it and it worked for me. I had to wait for about 10 seconds to open PS. Made an adjustment and pressed save. Adjsuted TIFF opened beside the RAW file in LrC.

Are you using the beta version of PS?

Hi @DdeGannes , as far as I can tell, yes. I haven't spent too much time with it since reinstalling, but at least it opens! I poked around, made a few edits, hopped in and out of different modules and so far, so good. I'll report back if anything changes.

The Clean Reinstall procedure I found elsewhere on this forum (after I'd posted) completely solved the issue on both  my machines.

  1. Close Lightroom
  2. Restart the computer
  3. Use the Adobe Creative Cloud App to uninstall Lightroom
  4. Restart the computer
  5. Install Lightroom via the Creative Cloud App without launching any other programs.
  6. Restart the computer
  7. Launch Lightroom
  8. Wait 5 minutes

Hi, Ive the same issue with my Lightroom Classic. It's the first time that I'm facing this type of problem and I would like to know something... What about my Catalog if I'm doing this clean Lighroom install procedure steps ?. Do I need to save it somewhere ? Or the uninstall via the creative cloud is not gonna remove all my catalogs, presets, custom settings etc. ?

Thanks in advance.

John.

Your catalogue, etc will be fine. Nothing to do there but you should have it backed up. When you uninistal LrC 13 it will ask if you want to keep everything and you should pick that selection. I can't rememnber the exact words.

I just downloaded LRC 13.0.1 and now LRC won't open. I tried restarting my MAC and nothing changed. First time I've ever had such a problem. Thanks for any fixes offered.

Yep, Adobe released a critical patch which only renders Lightroom classic broken on Macs.

Seems unintsalling, reinstalling doesn't work.

I suggest rolling back until Adobe releases a critical fix patch to fix the criticical fix patch bug.
