The only way to revert to Normal screen mode is to quit LR.

At least one cause of this bug has been fixed in LR 6.1.1 / CC 2015.1.1: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...

I can't reproduce that so far. Which operating system? And which module are you in before you go to Full Screen Preview mode?

Mac OS X 10.9.2. In Develop module, but it happens in Library module too.

I've tried 2 different machines, both 10.9.2 and still can't repro. So next port of call is to try trashing the preferences http://members.lightroomqueen.com/Kno...

Thank you for the suggestion on trashing the preferences. I did that once and it did not have any effect.

I created another user account on the same system and tested LR again. It did not occur under the new account. So it appeared to be isolated within my user profile.

I deleted the user Library/Caches/com.adobe.Lightroom5 folder and its contents. I also found and deleted another folder that was named 5.3. It contained the debug, transport logs and other files for LR. I also deleted the preferences one more time.

Upon launching LR, it prompted for a location and new catalog as if it was a fresh install.

Problem solved.

I'm having this same issue. I upgraded to 5.4 a couple of days ago and just this evening I found that I can't exit full-screen mode. The only way I've found to recover is to quit Lightroom.

I tried deleting the caches as mentioned above with no luck. I'd rather not delete my preferences, but I temporarily renamed the preferences files. No luck, though, LR still remembered where my catalog was on startup and still has the fullscreen bug.

I'm also getting this problem. Deleted both Library/Caches/com.adobe.Lightroom5 and preference files and still not resolved.

It seems like Lightroom thinks that, even after I press 'Esc,' I'm constantly pressing 'F' button.

Can someone tell me how to delete user profile and what is the implication of that? Thank you.

I did manage to recover from this without deleting my profile. I have a second monitor that I use when I'm in my office. After I connected that monitor and restarted Lightroom I was able to go in and out of fullscreen mode with no problem. I closed lightroom and then disconnected my monitor and the fullscreen mode stated behaving normally for me on my laptop.

I'm guessing that some setting got stuck in a weird state when previously disconnecting my monitor and started causing the weird fullscreen behavior.

I've tried all the above mentioned tips - nothing worked.

I'm using a second monitor also. Deleting all files disconnecting, starting LR, prisoned in fullscreen - not able to go back to the "G" Gridmode.

Any other tips (maybe a DL-Link to 5.3)?

Since updating to LR 5.4, The fullscreen modus (F) doesn't work, i.e it's impossible to leave this modus and I have to completely quit LR.
(MacBook Pro 10.9.2)
Is there a solution?

I've opened it as there are multiple people still reporting it.

Anyone who wants to roll back to 5.3, link is here: http://www.adobe.com/support/download...

According to a "Adobe Support Chat Team Member", this is NOT a LR problem.

Even if you install 5.3 under the same account (which will work without any problem) it is not a Adobe problem.

Maybe Apple programmed something like: (If LR > 5.3 do not allow to leave Fullscreen)...

Thanks! 5.3 (paralel installation) is done, and 5.3 behaves normally.
Only 5.4 have the problem.

I still haven't been able to reproduce it, so let's run through the exact steps you take to get it into that state. For example, you mentioned a second monitor - is Lightroom on the laptop monitor or the second one? Is second window open or closed? Which module are you in at the time? And since sync is the main latest addition, is sync enabled or disabled on your catalog?

Yes, great! :-)

- LR is running on the mainscreen, which is the second monitor. This monitor is also the mainscreen for Mac OS X.

- The second window is normally opend.
- I'm the Bibliothek, GridView (German version).
- My presets will not be saved with the catalogue.

What I've tried:
- Disconnecting the second monitor, rebooting, 5.4 - F
- Declared the MacBook Pro Monitor as main Monitor
- Deleted the complete /Users/xxx/Library/Caches/com.adobe.Lightroom5/
- Deleted /Users/hcb/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Lightroom5.LSSharedFileList.plist
- Deleted /Users/hcb/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist

Nothing worked.

- Created a new User - no problem. 😞

5.4 deleted, 5.3 reinstalled and everything is now working.
Nevertheless, it would be nice if you could identify and correct the bug...

I was not completely satisfied to roll back to LR 5.3 and I give a new try to 5.4 after contacting Adobe Support Chat Team Member. They are now recognizing that there is a problem (Updating may corrupt preferences file).
So, I update again to 5.4, delete "com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist" from the library and now, it seems to work.

Okay, gave it a new try as mentioned by Emmanuel, works.
(Seems leggit, that the update damaged the pref-file).

The key seems to be:

- running 5.3
- update to 5.4 (DO NOT START IT!)
- delete "com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist"
- start 5.4

But it is interesting, that starting 5.4 - right after the upgrade -
and deleting the pref file afterwards doesn`t work.

There must be a another place where prefs are stored - in 5.4.

Saying this, we should keep this thread open, till there is a
official fix, because this is only a workaround, with no guarantee
to work always and under all circumstances.

I totally agree and for people who encounter this problem, follow the sequence describe by Henry.
Plus I'm not sure if this solution will be stable. Actually, I had this problem a few days ago (after updating) then it was gone (why, I've no Idea...) and it came back yesterday... very strange!
So, as Henry says, we should keep this thread open.

I've found I can get back to the other screens by first restarting 5.4 and then pressing shift F. However, the problem comes back, seemingly at random. Annoying, and Adobe should provide a fix.

This started happening again for me, after being fine for a few days. I'm pretty sure I triggered it this time by quitting LR (Cmd-Q) while in Fullscreen mode.

Good catch Shawn. I was able to recreate the problem after fixing it once. I quit while in Full Screen mode and on restart the problem is back. This is definitely a bug that needs to be fixed.
