P: Lightroom 14.1 & 14.1.1 stops showing metadata after 5 to 10min of work spinning wheel

After updating to LHR classic 14.1.1 LHR stops shwoing metadat in the lybrary module as well as in the developement module (loupe info).
Closing LHR and deleting the files: ...Helper.Lrdata, ....Previews.Lrdata as well as ....Sync.Lrdata helps, as they are created each time new when starting LHR.

But after working for about 10min all the metadata disapears again.

I have installed LRH fresh and reset all settings. Nothings seems to help.
I have a attached a screenshot but I wonder if that helps - there is just that spinning wheel.

Any suggestions?

P.S. I have a large catalog with about 200.000 photos in it but have had no issues so far. Big Windows PC with plenty of power.

I don't think so as I am using a fairly new Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Super with all updates on Win10 and the grafics card.
I even tried moving the catalog to my Macbook Pro (M1 Max Pro), sadly with the same issues.

I wonder if this could have anything to do with your GPU, and your GPU drivers. With each new version, Lightroom Classic uses the GPU more often and it gets more picky about updated GPU drivers. So the fact that an older version works fine and the newer version has this problem, may point at the GPU. Make sure you have updated GPU drivers, and if you use a NVIDIA GPU, then make sure you use the Studio drivers, not the Game Ready drivers.

I have tried everything you descriced, with no success either!
It completely messes up my workflow and there seems to be no solution so far.

Since updating to 14.1, when clicking on a photo in library mode, the right-hand column (histogram, keywords, metadata) does not populate - just a spinning wheel forever in the Metadata margin :

All other LR functions (eg Develop) work fine, and the Library doesn't crash - Thumbnails, navigation, etc all appear ok, just no metadata.

LR Classic 13.51 - Works fine, metadata populated

LR Classic 14.01 - Works fine, metadata populated

LR Classic 14.1 - Metadata not populating

LR Classic 14.11 - Metadata not populating

I've gone backwards and forwards between the above versions, 100% reproducible.

I’ve also tried restoring various older catalogue backups and re-converting them, deleted preference file, settings & previews folders, rebooting, etc. but none made any difference - metadata populates in 14.01 and below, not in 14.1 and above.

Using Windows 11 all latest patches, Intel Core 200 265k, 48GM RAM, 200k photos in catalogue, been using LR since v1.

Any suggestions please?

I can't help, I do not have a solution, but this may be the same thing happening here https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/library-module-shows-no-data/td-p/15062612

I would advise you watch that thread as well.

PS: As a wild guess, try turning off your anti-virus temporarily and see if the makes the problem go away.

Thanks - Yes, this appears to be the same bug

I have Lightroom Classic, version 14.1.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.2. The problem I am having with LRC is the panels within the library module are visible but contain no information. When I open a RAW file the Histogram and Metadata panels show no data. None of the settings within the Quick Develop panel respond when I click on them. The Develop module, on the other hand, seems to be fine. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled LRC and optimized the catalog. Nothing has changed. Any suggestions?

Try resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI

Thanks for getting back to me. I reset LRC preferences through the preference dialog box but everything is still the same, except now I see a spinning wheel in the Metadata panel. I restarted the computer and after resetting the preferences but still no change.

Hi all.

The problem is that information about photos is no longer displayed in the Library and other modules.
I can't show which file I am trying to edit. Additionally, when this issue occurs, options like editing in Photoshop are greyed out and unusable.

Restarting Lightroom does not resolve the issue. After deleting Helper.lrdata and Previews.lrdata, I was able to see the information when I started Lightroom Classic. I suspect that metadatahelper is not functioning properly, so I am reporting this.

It seems that metadatahelper.db cannot be read properly when it exceeds 3.1GB. After deleting metadatahelper.db, it became readable again.

Lightroom Classic Version Number: 14.1.1

Lightroom automatically upgraded to v 14.1 today and my Metadata and Keyword tags have all disappeared for every photo.  Is there a way to resolve this?

Sounds like the wrong catalog file opened after the upgrade. Search you computer -- use your operating system's search feature -- look in all folders on all drives -- for files whose name ends with .LRCAT. Probably the largest such file is the one you want to open.

It was using the correct catalog but clearly was not pulling in metadata or keyword tags.  Adobe support dialled in and eventually backed up the catalog and restarted it and it seemed to work but only lasted for about 10 minutes then it all disappeared again.  I have reverted back to version 14.0, opened my catalogue and the metadata and keywords are there.  So I am staying away from this upgrade.
