Hi All! The team is investigating this. Please check if the file path for the original images includes a ( ' ), or any other special characters, and rename the folder. If the file path is, for example:

   Pictures\2025\August's Favorites\Sample Folder
Rename it to:

   Pictures\2025\Augusts Favorites\Sample Folder

Folders renamed outside of Lightroom Classic will still need to be relinked to Lightroom. You can right-click on the folder name & use Find Missing Folder, or follow the steps list

Hi all! The update to Lightroom Classic v14.5.1 is now available and includes a fix for this issue.

If you don’t see the update in your Creative Cloud app, refresh it using Ctrl/Cmd + Alt/Opt + R.

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for the update to show up.

Thanks for your patience.

Sameer K.

Updated lightroom to 14.5 and Photoshop 26.9 won't open lightroom edited TIFF files only original TIFF files. Running MacOS 15.5 on an Apple Mi Pro.

@Titera

"manually add Photoshop.exe as a secondary external editor in Lightroom’s Preferences"

This is not the best solution since it can lead to other problems.

I have no issues with Edit In Adobe Photoshop 2025 or Edit In Adobe Photoshop (beta) on my Windows 11 PC.

Other than ensuring there is no apostrophe in any of the image file paths, you could try uninstalling LrC and Ps, then reinstall Ps first followed by LrC.

Okay. there was a apostrophe/accent in the file name. Removed that, and no problem.

LR version: 14.5

PS version: 26,9

PS beta version: 26.11

I have read trough many topics of this issue and I have done it all like uninstall>install LR and PS. Reset the prefs, but it is still not working on my brandnew macbook pro.

I also installed PS beta as a additional external editor and this works fine. So that is very strange to me. So wondering why the prefered external editor PS is not working. Is there a bug in this release of PS??

What I notice that if I use the prefered editor, LR does not come up with the confirmation popup asking "edit a copy with lightroom adjustments" and that LR is not exporting anything. Usually you will see a short progress bar at the top left corner. telling that LR is exporting the image. When I select the additional external editor I do get this popup.

The settings for both editors are the same in the prefs.

Do you have any idea??

@Martin Soeteman

When Photoshop is set as the alternative editor, LrC doesn't 'know' that it is Photoshop, so it cannot open raw files as it does when the Photoshop editor setting is used.

It was a Premiere Pro, now it's LR  after the update, I can’t even open files in Photoshop directly from Lightroom anymore. Normally, after editing in Lightroom, I’d send the file to Photoshop as an edit file—but now it just doesn’t open. The only way is to export and then open, which defeats the purpose. This bug is beyond frustrating. Day by day, Adobe makes it harder to stick with their products. We’re paying a premium every month for software that keeps breaking—it feels like abuse at this point and makes me wanna quit all the software and shift to different platform.

I know it's abug a now people will come here and honestly only one reply will be same they do for other sotware like priemere, can i know your PC spec, try renaming the folder, uninstall and install again, sometime even dumb things format your pc, this has been happened in past one of the admin told me to format my pc because of After effect bugs later found out that issue wasn't with me it happened to even big creators, like antonmehto who also recently posted story regarding after effect bug on the rotoscope. It had nothing to do with my pc and which really made me pissed because i had to transfer all my files. Why it doesn't happen with Da vinci, capture one, Adobe Sotwares are flawed in so many ways, honestly feels like forced abuse. Only thing we can do is leave or adapt to their bugs. I already shifted to Da vinci because of primere pro which wasn't able to adapt today's market, I hope Da vinci they drop same things to edit photos and only matter of time when there will be no users at all.

Reverting to the previous version of Lightroom fixed it for me. I don't have any apostrophes in the pathnames. Is that something that changed in the last version update?

Since updating to the August 2025 update of Lightroom Classic 14.5 yesterday, I have been unable to successfully use the right click, "edit in" Photoshop feature. Photoshop opens but the photos never show up.

Steps taken so far:

• Updated my MacOS
• Restarted Computer

• Uninstalled all CC applications, including manager
• Performed CC cleaner

• Restarted Computer again

• Reinstalled Creative Cloud Manager
• Reinstalled Photoshop, then Lightroom Classic
• Optimized Catalog, restarted Lightroom Classic

Any insight greatly appreciated!

Use these programs on MacBook Pro MacOS sequoia version 15.6

Current updated Lightroom cc from version14.4 to latest version 14.5 Photoshop version 26.9 which was already updated as first.

When I try to transfer a raw file (C Raw version17.4) is not opening in photoshop version 26.9.  Photoshop opens but not the photo to work on. workspace stays empty.

In Lightroom CC raw file saved as psd. Tried now to import this again in lightroom cc and transferred to Photoshop which opened this file now in Photoshop. Could work on this but not returned to Lightroom when this file was saved. Updated file not visual in Lightroom CC. This way of working is of course not the way it should.

All settings etc were ok as I worked already for many years with.

Have deinstalled Photoshop version 26.9 as well Lightroom CC version 14.5

Next step first installed Photoshop first and installed Lightroom CC again. Situation with working is NOK and same as mentioned above.

Now switched off plug-ins one by one to verify if one of these were the cause of this problem. Result same as mentioned before.

Next step deleted Photoshop version 26.9 and Lightroom CC version 14.5 again and installed previous Photoshop version 26.8-1 and previous Lightroom CC version 14.4

Now everything works again as it should.

Based on this experience I will not update both programs till a new update is available, or the root cause is known.

Reading several forums, I noticed a few people have similar problems.

Wil

@sameerk I have just encountered this problem. Is a "dash" regarded as a special character?  Every single folder of mine has a dash and its never been a problem.
I also dont want to uninstall LrC because I dont want to re-import every single photo +-400K and I dont want to battle with the settings again especially since I have just got everything working perfectly....until the latest update.  This is really annoying.  Adobe should be fixing things not breaking them 😉

What I did was uninstalled Lightroom classic 14.5 and installed 14.4 and no
you don’t have to reinstall all your photos. Until I get the bug fixed,
that’s what I’m doing and it works fine.

Running windows 11. I update to LR 14.5 and I cannot send photo using edit in Photoshop. It will not open. I re-installed 14.4 and all is well. Not sure what is causing this.

YES! I had a single-quote as part of the directory name (as in David's Birthday). Renaming the directory/folder (well, I had to create a new one as renaming hasn't worked for awhile, but that is easy) allowed me to again Edit in Photoshop with changes made in LRC (in this case, a JPG file).

Thanks!

Have an edited image in Lightroom that I want to continue editing with Photoshop. Right click opens PS but the image doesn't move into PS. Instead the Photoshop window opens with my most recent images showing but no way to move the lightroom image to PS.

MacMini M1, PS 26.6.0 and LR 14.5 and CameraRaw 17.5
If I change CaneraRaw 14.5  it works perfectly. That's not the solution. Please help. All programs have been reinstalled. That didn't solve the problem either.

@ Laszlo5CE3 <> do you have
any extra characters in your file name? Apparently, with the LR upgrade it
does like special characters.

I have lightroom classic (v14.5) and I do some minor edits in that and then I click to edit in photoshop (Version: 26.9.0)  with the edits I had done, but that photo doesn't open in photoshop at all. I have uninstalled and re-installed both and same thing. What is happening?
