Please help us out. What software are you talking about? Where in that software do you see this "Debug Capture Time"? Can you provide a screen capture? Please use the "Insert Photos" icon to include your screen capture in your reply. Do not attach files.

Sorry.

I posted in Lightroom Classic so I thought it is clear. But let me explain:

- App: Lightroom Classic

- Metadata Panel

- Camera Info

Hi @KasiaR . Thank you for reaching out to us. Can you share the config.lua file with us. You can find the same here
On Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/config.lua
On Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\scouten\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\config.lua

I believe it is a debugging feature used by the developers that was mistakenly added by the developers to the user-visible list of fields. There are other "Debug" fields that plugins can display:

But Debug Capture Time is the only one available when you click Customize.

Hi.

That was a little tricky as Documents and Settings folder does not exist in Windows 10. But I think this should be the correct one:

C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom

Anyway, there is no config.lua file in my filesystem. Why do you need this file? I'm not sure what this file is used for, but for what I could find on adobe help pages, it is not used by default. Is it somehow related to metadata settings?

My system.info displays only this entry related to config.lua file:

Config.lua flags: None

\Metadata\DefaultPanel.lua:

list = {
"com.adobe.captureDateTime",
"com.adobe.dateTimeOriginal",
"com.adobe.dateTimeDigitized",
"com.adobe.dateCreated",
"debug.captureTime",
"com.adobe.originalFilename",
"com.adobe.filename",
"com.adobe.folder",
"com.adobe.megapixels",
"com.adobe.combinedCameraName",
"com.adobe.lens",
"com.adobe.creator",
"com.adobe.copyright",
"com.adobe.copyrightState",
"com.adobe.rightsUsageTerms",
"com.adobe.creatorCity",
"com.adobe.creatorCountry",
"com.adobe.creatorWorkEmail",
"com.adobe.creatorWorkWebsite",
"com.adobe.title",
"com.adobe.caption",
"com.adobe.userComment",
"com.adobe.scene",
"com.adobe.GPS",
"com.adobe.location",
"com.adobe.city",
"com.adobe.state",
"com.adobe.country",
"com.adobe.isoCountryCode",
}

Thanks for your replies. I can understand that Debug Time shouldn't be actually visible (used only by developers) but why lightroom sorts photos using this field instead of Capture Date/Time?

If create date is different than debug create time, then it is sorted by debug create time as shown in below photo:

Why this behaviour?

"why lightroom sorts photos using this field instead of Capture Date/Time?"

johnrellis_0-1704992530802.png

It's a longstanding LR bug -- LR behaves inconsistently when Date Time Original (the EXIF field where cameras record when the shutter was pressed) is blank.  The values displayed in the Metadata panel for Capture Date/Time, the values shown in the Filter bar's Date column, and the order in which photos are sorted won't match.

Adobe tried a couple times years ago to fix this but never got it right, and it's self-evidently not a priority for them. See this bug report:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-still-inconsistent-capture-date-time-for-pho...

Also, the workaround is to use the Metadata > Edit Capture Time command to assign explicitly a capture time to such photos. That will fill in Date Time Original and avoid the inconsistency.

I verified that Debug Capture Time no longer is available via the Customize button in the Metadata panel.
