P: Spot Removal Brush Render Glitch When Converted to Compressed DNG

I am consistently finding all spot removal adjustments rendered as pink block artifacts after converting to compressed DNG. I am using LR Classic 10.1.1 on a 2017 15 inch MacBook Pro running macOS Catalina 10.15.7. I've seen the problem with a Canon R5 (raw and c-raw), Canon 5DmkIII, and Fuji X-T3 (RAF). The artifacts don't immediately appear - only when rendering 1:1 - so they are easy to overlook. I can remove the artifacts by modifying each spot removal adjustment in some way (often I'll just select an adjustment and nudge the feather slider up and down by one so the adjustment isn't affected). Also, there doesn't seem to be a problem when adding spot removal adjustments to images after they are converted to compressed DNG. Not sure how long this problem has been around - I've just discovered it when testing compressed DNG as a possible way to manage file sizes from the R5. Here are screenshots showing the original raw, compressed DNG, and exported PSD...

This is a known bug, that apparently did not yet get fixed.

I just exported the file as a .jpg and now the pink blocks no longer appear in LR Library E or G mode

Thanks. I couldn't quite find the right description when I searched for the issue, but just as well I posted it, because they haven't fixed it...

I just updated my LR Classic to 11.5 and I still see the artifacts after exporting to lossy DNG where the retouched areas were. Opening the same image in Camera RAW or Photoshop does not show it. Only in LR.

One more thing, I am pretty sure it's a LR bug rather than a DNG bug since it looks fine on ACR or Photoshop as is. If you delete the "healing" spots, the pink/red boxes disappear and reveal the original image of the exported lossy DNG from original yet updated DNG to contain LR edits. It strongly suggests it's more of a LR having issues with rendering lossy DNG files that contain spot healing metadata than the DNG format itself. Screen Shot 2022-08-31 at 8.31.40 PM.jpg

After doing lossy compression in LR classic on some dngs a lot of my edits show these green artifacts.

They show in preview and the developing module. They appear only in places where I used the repair/clone tool before.

If I export the whole image it is unharmed (luckily).

Still this should not happen.

It's fixing itself if I move the source area to fill in one pixel, but gets green again if I move it back to it's original position.

I don't think this will have an affect, as it also works if I just move it by one pixel. And it still is a bug.

Okay, just tried this on an older file and see black squares. I added an additional spot and they all corrected. It's still a bug though.

@Rikk Flohr: Photography Can you try this? It's repeatable with both content aware and the old spot removal.

Just tried with the new removal tool after the update, that also happens to me. Black boxes with the new one, more greenish before the tool was remodeled on the older files. But for me just adding a new spot is not fixing the ones that were there pre-conversion, still have to move them one by one.

And it's really just an issue how it's rendered in LR classic. LR Mobile shows the the spots correctly.

There is a bug filed for this already. I will merge this thread in.

So it's known since 2 years and nothing happened? Did my post just got archived and forgotten like the other confirmed bugs?
