P: Unable to advance to the next photo

Why no one writes about the fact that in develop mode, after any manipulation with a photo, it is impossible to go to the next photo in the feed? You go, but the photo remains the same as it was, you have to go back and only then go to the next photo. This is a global problem!!  Anyway, I did some research and I realized why many people are silent about it, because this problem occurs only when using the +\- buttons on any keyboard, even on macbook !!!!. If you use only mouse or touchpad, there is no problem with photo transition. That's why many photographers don't pay attention to it, because they don't use the keyboard. Therefore, ADOBE does not react in any way.

2. If the image is not edited, there is no problem, flipping goes as usual, but it is worth to make some changes on correction, immediately there is a problem.

Is this the case for a photo that just got edited, as opposed to a photo that previously got edited?

@GoldingD , good point, I just did a fresh import off a batch of raw images and did edits and moved to next without a problem. Tests with previously edited and applied new edits advancing to the next image functions as expected.

Tests done on my Win 11 PC and LrC v 13.

1. GPU OFF - no change, it doesn't work.
2. No problem here, even after editing images with multiple presets (from Library - right side), after switching to Develop and not touching the sliders, it behaves without problems.
3. Moving on to the next photo:
Using directly the arrow keys on the keyboard doesn't work
Arrow keys on the keyboard + CTRL (left or right) - OK, no problem
with the Lightroom interface arrows below the image - OK, no problem

That's right, it only applies to a freshly processed photo.

Why do I get the impression that lightroom only works for experts? That's funny. Maybe they don't see or understand the problem, I've talked to many photographers and they all have this problem on all systems. They all went back to version 12.5

Same issue. I've literally signed up to report this. So infuriating loading previews in general is off, toggling back and for edited images shows an unedited image briefly before fully edited.

I've edited over half a million photos this year without any issues and this is big for me. 16" M1 max maxed out spec btw.

I deleted all  Smart Preview and connected the original raw files . Now it seems that  works as well even if it is not completely reactive as v12.5.

Turn GPU off and it becomes inoperable, it slows to a crawl, and the issue stil persists.

It makes no difference if editing or not. Once you have moved through the sequence though, if you go back through again then there is no issue the second time, once Lightroom has been 'pushed' to recognise the image i the sequence.
I'm using keyboard cursors to advance, Ive never clicked with the mouse as it is just way too slow.

I'm also having another simultaneous issue, which I think may be connected - the smart previews just don't render at all in Library mode, I just see a fuzzy image, and 'loading' which never stops. Even zooming in doesn't fix it, so it is impossible to edit. With nboth issues, it is like Lightroom can;t find it;s onw previews, which is why it isn't displaying them perhaps. Lightroom is just unuseable at the moment, please sort this Adobe!

What do you mean you deleted all the smart previews? Is that a solution? I only work with smart previews, so it is urgent to solve the issue programmatically!

Since the new update, when in develop mode, it's taking far too long to simply go to the next image. I tried the previous version instal, and still didn't work. I optimzied, cleared cache, rebuilt files, it's all poiting to the new update. Please advice- this is my profession, and it's slowing me down in the busiest time of year for me.

Do you have the option to save to xmp on?

Do you have any sync to the cloud on?

Anything else on that might be busy saving data and triggered to do so by moving on?

I deleted all previews and smart previews in the folder structure and rebuilt everything. I save xmp's. No difference. Tried all various performance settings and rending previews at different sizes too. It's driving me nuts. So glad this didn't happen a few weeks ago when i have 20,000+ photos to edit!

I am on 13.0.1. I had to reinstall that as it crashed instantly when opening. It still has the same issue.

Friends, who can tell me, has version 13.0.1 fixed the problem with moving to the next photo after processing in the ribbon? Or is it still the same as it was in Develop mode it is impossible to go to the next photo from the first time ?

Same here! So frustrating!!!  I'm running Sonoma, and tried everything. Any suggestions will be more than welcome.

No change in 13.0.1, it doesn't work.

I have re-imported some images if it helps, optimised catalog, purged cache, deleted previews, rebuild all previews and nothing worked.

I also experienced this strange slowness/not displaying correct image in the filmstrip (Develop module) while scrolling through images in v13.  I reverted back to 12.5 and all edited images progressed (next/previous) fine again.

I then installed the v13.0.1 update, opened up a catalogue that was exhibiting this issue. Selected all images, created smart and standard previews.  After that, the issue seems to have been resolved for me.  Perhaps it was a bad download/installation?  Not sure but it helped to downgrade, then install v13.0.1 and render previews.

Yep. Same problem here. Noticed mostly when working with Smart Previews. Makes work very very slow.
I can re-render previews as I don't have the raws. I'm working on smart previews from my photographers around the country - the whole point is that they send the smart previews to speed things up, not make things painfully slow.
