Mac OSX 12.01, Apple Silicon M1

LightRoom Classic 11.2

After upgrade from 11.1 updating any published collections (to disk) is very slow and gets stuck.  One or 2 get published, then progress stalls

Re-installing 11.1 solves the problem.

Yep same issue here. I have a couple of user accounts on the same machine I switch between for different jobs, didn't know if that affected it.

It seems to continuously stop after publishing 3 pictures. I then re-start Lightroom and it does it again. Every now and again it just starts working. I've tried re-installing. So frustrating.

Optimising Catalogue never finishes either.

On both MacOS X and on Windows 10, LrC now hangs after publishing 1-5 photos to a Hard Drive service. I use this constantly to move photos from a "triage" catalog to others, e.g. "good stuff" and "everything". I can cancel the hung publish job (this takes 10-30 seconds) but then LrC refuses to publish anything until I quit and restart. LrC will then publish a few more photos before hanging again.

LrC_v11.2_PublishHangs.png

On both platforms, LrC leaves empty "tmp" folders (starting with "tmp", then "tmp-1", and so on) after publishing the 1-5 files correctly. The service is configured to just copy the original image (.NEF in my case) with metadata (.XMP). In all cases, both files are present for those files it succeeds in exporting.

Without the ability to export, I am dead in the water as I do not publish photos online from my "triage" catalog. Thank God this is just a hobby for me -- I can't image how disruptive these "upgrades" would be for a professional photographer! This is the second Adobe product regression this year (Premiere Pro was broken for weeks in June 2021), and both were catastrophic failures of basic features.

FYI, I tried exporting one year of my "triage" catalog to a new catalog. That export worked fine; however, when I attempt to export the same 50 photos from THAT catalog to a new "export originals" Hard Drive service setup, I get the same behavior. LrC shows 3 photos as published and hangs, but it actually exported 5 photos to the destination directory (along with an empty "tmp" directory). LrC will sit in this state indefinitely (I've left it for several minutes) with no progress. Canceling turns the "x" red and the operation is canceled after about 10-15 seconds. LrC will then refuse to attempt any further exports until it is restarted. Rinse and repeat. 😞 Well, it was worth a try!

...and yes, now I have tried resetting my LrC preferences, which seems to be the Adobe "Did you try rebooting?" generic solution. No effect, publishing still hangs / stalls.

I'm hoping this is related to ID 12749232 since that already has a candidate solution. I didn't see that bug report at first due to the use of "stalls" instead of "hangs". Sigh...

I have this problem as well, on LrC v11.2 both on MacOS X (Big Sur 11.6.4) and Windows 10 (fully updated). I moved 400GB of catalogs hoping that this issue was limited to MacOS (before finding this thread, of course). I created this ID (12825412) which I now realize is a duplicate.

I have tried resetting preferences. I have tried exporting part of my catalog to a new catalog, but that new catalog suffers the same issue. I have optimized the catalogs. I have disabled GPU usage. As noted, I have replicated the problem on both PC and Mac. I have published to SSDs and external USB hard drives on BOTH operating systems. Same behavior.

Publishing via the Hard Drive service (as originals) hangs after publishing a few photos. FWIW, last time I found that LrC reported 3 photos published, while it actually created 5 sets of files (NEF+XMP) plus an empty "tmp" folder.

Did you try just selecting any collection while the publish is hung? This has been working for me.

I just published 5 photos from LrC v.11.2 to Flickr with no problems on my iMac (M1). Previously, I had to retart LrC a couple of times.

It has been reported that Adobe recognizes and acknowleges the but in version 11.2 and is expected to fix it in the next release, 11.3, hopefully in the first week or two of April.  In the meantime, it is recommended that you revert back to version 11.1 until the update is released.  There have been a number of posts that attempt to "solve" the issue by recommending a variety approaches.  If these seem appropritate to your, great, but if version 11.1 worked just fine for you, prudence might suggest you simply use that and wait for version 11.3 to be released.

Hi dear community,

Whenever I want to publish images with a publishing service such as Hard Drive but also others, Lightroom Classic stops after one image is published and stops then.

Does anybody has the same issue or can help with this?

Thanks a lot

Revert back to Lightroom's previous version 11.1.  Adobe is aware of the bug and working to fixing it in the next release, 11.3.  There are a number of suggestions out there for possible work-arounds, but unless your work depends on the enhancements in version 11.2, the best answer is revert to the earlier version WHICH WORKED, and wait for the bug fix in the next version--expected in early April.

Yes... REVERT back to the previous version of LR (11.1) and wait for Adobe to release the bug-fix in version 11.3.  You're not alone...LOTS of us are frustrated by this.  And not only that, it really contributes to a lack of confidence for updating LR and PS when new versions are released...you never know if the "enhancements" will be worth the risk of other things getting broken...

See this post from Adobe's Rikk Flohr for another workaround that doesn't require reverting to 11.1:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-bugs/p-update-publish-collection-stalls/idc-p/12752...

Also, we might expect to see LR 11.3 released in the next couple of weeks, assuming that LR is on its usual release schedule of every 8 weeks. (Adobe doesn't announced its schedules.)

Suddenly, after upgrading to Mac OS 12.3, Lightroom Classic( current as of Mar 29, 2022) refuses to publish from Publish Services. Actually, what happens is after the first image to be published the export process stalls indefinitely. After canceling and attempting to re-publish, nothing happens when hitting the "Publish" button!!!

Why is this taking so long to impliment.  Doesn't Adobe realize how many people this has adversely effected?  I mean really you can't publish your photos to services--thats HUGE for many.  What about an update at least.

@LeeVaris, while waiting for this bug to be fixed, there are two workarounds:

- When LR stalls, click on another collection, e.g. the Quick Collection, then back to the published collection.

- Roll back to LR 11.1.

Ever since I upgraded to the latest version of LR Classic, when I try to use any of my publish services, the task gets stuck.  Each time I have to cancel the task and do it again.  Sometimes it works and sometimes I have to do it yet again or close LR and then reopen it.

I'm on OSX Monterey 12.0.1.   I was on this OSX before LR updated a few weeks ago and it was fine.

Does anyone know how to fix this?  I've restarted my computer.

Thank you!

Laura Macky

Be specific. What publish services are you using?

How do you know it is "stuck"? What do you see on the screen? If there is an error message, what is the exact word-for-word error message?
