P: (Windows) Slideshow Custom Text Bounding Box creates space at end of text

I'm currently running Lightroom Classic 13.4 under Windows 11. In a previous version of Lightroom, I used to be able to change the justification of custom text overlays in a slideshow template by moving the anchor to the left, middle and right, but now all such text is left-justified no matter where I place the anchor.

How do I fix this?

Note: I've rewritten the title of the bug report you submitted.

The actual failure here is that Windows instances of Lightroom Classic 13.3 and later do not correctly calculate the bounding box and pad the text's end with additional space. The change is a result of accommodating some bigger glyphs from GB18030.

For paste multi-line Custom Text, a separate bug exists to track RH justification (note: LH and Center are not affected)

Hey, @David C Anderson. Welcome to the Lightroom Community.  I'll need more info to help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Lightroom Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

I am seeing the expected behavior in two of my machines. Please add a short video or series of screenshots showing what you see. In the meantime, try resetting Lightroom Classic following the manual method shared here: https://adobe.ly/4aPIWol

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Your link https://adobe.ly/4aPIWol doesn't appear to contain a Lightroom reset procedure, but it does have another link at the bottom of the page called Reset Preferences. Is that what you meant?

Resetting preferences has made no difference. I've just generated the attached screenshot, which shows a text overlay anchored to the bottom right corner. As you can see, the text is still left-justified.

I normally run Lightroom on my workstation PC, but I've just installed the latest version of Lightroom Classic on my Windows 11 laptop for the first time. It behaves in exactly the same way. Is this a bug or has the method for adjusting text justification in slideshow overlays been changed?

Try linking to the bottom right corner of the image, rather than the corner of the slide display area.

I am using this feature on 13.1 Win 10 and it works as expected.... but I link to the corner of the image.

I can understand the desire to use the corner of the screen as well as the corner of the image.

I've linked to every corner there is on the right hand side but the text stays firmly left-justified.

As an experiment, I've just replaced LrC 13.4 on my laptop with 13.1 and it all worked properly again. Moving the overlay anchor to the left, centre and right automatically results in left-justification, centre-justification and right-justification respectively.

Further tests on my laptop show that text justification also works in version 13.2 but fails with all later versions. Did Adobe deliberately remove this very useful feature in version 13.3 or is it a bug?

A Mac user has told me that text justification is still working fine in the Mac version of LrC 13.4, so it is looking more and more like a bug in the Windows version.
