12.4 update results in substantially slower transition from one image to the next in Develop Module!

Lightroom Classic version 12.4 promised to increase preformance "when navigating or selecting an image within the Develop module." My experience on my maxed out MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019) has been the exact opposite! Moving from one image to the next in the Develop Module, previously nearly instantanous, now takes several seconds in version 12.4. When I'm trying to process several hundred images on deadline those seconds add up to wasted time and to a very frustrating user experience.

I've not adjusted any preferences in Lightroom settings since updating from 12.3, I'm not running any software that I hadn't previously concurrently run, yet the issue persists.

I've taken several steps to determine why this is happening, restarting my machine, confirming Lightroom is using my GPU, quiting every other application running simutaniously, there is no difference.

It's worth mentioning that user @Bjarnetel described a similar experience here "in development mode the images still take a long time to load. Mostly 3-5 seconds. A few weeks ago the picture was there immediately."

As you say, the slow transition from image to image in the Develop module has been reported previously. Unfortunately, the original poster didn't follow up after initially reporting some improvement after resetting the LrC preference file. Therefore, the issue was probbaly deemed to be resolved.

Above being said, I've just powered up and installed LrC 12.4 on my retired (from photo editing) 2019 MacBook Pro with the same CPU and GPU as yours. However, I've only got 16GB of memory and the GPU is limited to 4GB of VRAM. Unlike yourself, I've got no external displays connected to the MacBook Pro. Even so, loupe walking from image to image in the Develop module is taking 3-4 seconds (it varies). Mine being faster than yours is likely due to the absence of external displays. Nevertheless, the delay is not my expereince with how loupe walking in the Develop module performs on my Mac Studio M1 Ultra, MacBook Pro M1 Pro or Mac mini M1. Unilke the Intel based MacBook Pro, I see no measurable delay between images on the Apple Silicon based Macs.

At this point, I don't think there is anything that can be done in 12.4 to improve your experience. Therefore, if this issue is affecting your work, then it's probably best that you downgrade to  LrC 12.3. I've attached a screenshot showing the steps involved.

I failed to mention that my MacBook Pro was running on battery power. However, having connected it to mains power and rechecking loupe walk, I see a slight improvement (i.e. 2-3 seconds between images).
