I started creating a book in the Book Module and before finishing clicked on Create A Saved Book. The Book ("curated_bk_wc") was based on the Collection which is shown above it in the screenshot below, whch has a total of 311 photos. At some point I got up to do something and when I came back to my computer, the Saved Book only had 33 photos in it (I am quite certain it was initially showing all of the photos in the Collection it was based upon). The photos in the Saved Book are a mix of photos in the Book and others from the Collection not in the Book. Why is the Saved Book showing this asssortment of photos and not some other and how can I add other photos not among the 33 in the Saved Book Collection but in the "all_photographs..." Collection it is based upon? Thanks.
how can I add other photos not among the 33 in the Saved Book Collection but in the "all_photographs..." Collection it is based upon?
1) View the "all_photographs..." Collection in Grid view
2) Select the wanted images, or even Select all.
3) Drag & Drop the selected images from the "all_photographs..." Collection onto the "curated_bk_wc" collection. Added images appear on the end of the Filmstrip.
4) Re-open the "curated_bk_wc" Book by a [Double-click] on the collection name.
I cannot answer

I cannot answer as to why you only see 33 images in the Book Collection. There is an option to [Include only used photos] but that does not answer why some are used on pages and others are not!
A point: The Book is no longer based on anything other than the "curated_bk_wc" collection. "all_photographs..." is now only a source for images that can be dragged to the "curated_bk_wc" collection.

Thanks! But to clarify your statement "The Book is no longer based on anything other than the "curated_bk_wc" collection." -- if you Create A Saved Book based on a Collection, then even if your Saved Book at that point has 10 photos, but your Collection has 100, there should be 100 photos (10 used) in the Saved Book, right? I just did a test and created another Saved Book based on a Collection that was the basis for the "all_photographs..." referenced previously (the latter a copy). This Collection has 318 photos but the new Saved Book has 37 photos (33 from the prior Saved Book plus 4 more I added to the new test book). I don't understand this behavior at all. Still, at least I can add photos to a Saved Book that I need based on your instructions above. Thank you.

When first starting a book form the Module Menu, you will often get spurious images added to the filmstip that bear no relationship to your 'selected' images for your book. See this forum link for this problem.
Book module brings in photos from previous book? | Lightroom Queen Forums
As per my post in this link, I now commonly create an empty 'Saved Book Collection' (ie No images) and then add photos to this 'Saved Book Collection'. After that I either use Auto-Layout, or add the photos individually to added book pages.
"I don't understand this behavior at all." And neither do I.! Hence my method of creating an empty 'Saved Book Collection' BEFORE I start designing the book. I then know that the photos I want for my book are only those I add to the 'Saved Book Collection' either by a Drag & Drop from the Library Grid view (Folders or standard Collections), or pressing [B] in Library when the 'Saved Book Collection' is set as the 'Target Collection'.
One hint: Once you have created a 'Saved Book Collection', never use the top Menu for the Book Module again. (Use the Module selection only when starting a new book.).
