Unfortunately you haven't given us detailed information about your system. Therefore, all proposed solutions are like a look into the crystal ball.
Which exact version of Lightroom and Photoshop do you use?
Which type of camera do you use?
Do you get an error message? If yes, please post the message word-by-word.
Do you have tried to reset the preferences to the default settings of both applications?

Sorry, I have LRC 14.0.1 Camera Raw 17.0
PS 2025 latest version.
Canon RP, R5, and R6 Mark II. Issues seem to mainly happen with CR3 files. But I also had some issues with ARW Raw files from a Sony Shoot. In LR it says file appears to be unsupported or damaged. PS won't open it either. Or LR has enountered problems reading this photo.. When I try to open directly from PS I get Could not open because the file-format module cannot parse the file. I've uploaded one of the raw files.

The files are damaged. This happens because of hardware malfunction somewhere, could be the camera or camera card, could be the card reader, could be the hard disk you store the photos on. You will need to troubleshoot this problem and find out where the problem comes from. You can try using a different camera card, and different card reader, for part of the diagnosis.

these are photos going back years. before the upgrade, I had no issue. but I am wondering if when I upgraded it did something with the files on my Raid drives. I am able to open the files from my backup drive. But when I transferred the files to the main drive. I'm still getting the error. But again the weird thing is that this is only happening on my raw files.

Raw files are much more sensitive to corruption than JPGs. If these are photos going back years, it sounds to me like the hard disk where the photos are stored is malfunctioning.

Upload one of the raw files that doesn't import to Wetransfer, Dropbox, Google Drive, or other free service and post the sharing link here. We can see if it's the file itself that's damaged (more likely) or its some other hardware issue.

I ended up reinstalling Sequoia and it appears that the upgrade corrupted my Raid drive. So for now, I think I'm going to have to reformat the main Raid Drive and copy the files from my backup drive. The files on the backup drive do open fine with PS or preview or Topaz. So for now, I'm going to try to reformat everything and then see if LR works.

I would caution you against concluding that the upgrade to the OS is the cause of hardware malfunctions. It seems unlikely to me.

I'm having the same problem after updating to Sequoia. Photoshop won't open my Sony ARW files from Adobe Bridge. The files are fine, they are certainly not corrupt and I can see them properly in Bridge. The message I get is "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file". Please help solve this problem.
