AI rotation of multiple pictures

Hi.

I'm just rotating many pictures by hand. This should be easy by AI to "see" if it is a portrait and which is the right orientation. Or a street scene, group pictures etc. .. Would help a lot.

I'm also looking for something that will do this. I am digitising 1000s of old 35mm slides by taking photos of each on a light box. A tool that can distinguish the correct orientation by analysing the contents of the image would be really useful!

That’s a great idea! Leveraging AI to automatically detect and correct image orientation based on the content like distinguishing between portraits and landscapes or identifying street scenes and group photo could save a lot of time and effort. Implementing AI for this task would definitely streamline the process and enhance efficiency. It’s exciting to think about how AI can simplify and improve workflows in such practical ways!

You haven't mentioned which camera brandl or model you're using. Many  cameras now include a setting to add a tag indicating the image orientation or do it automatically.  LrC uses this tag to automatically apply the correct orientation. Maybe you check whether your camera has such a setting.

Why are you having to rotate your photos. Are they not showing up in the Import, and in the filmstrip, navigator panel, grid view, and loupe  view after import, in the correct orientation?

My photos, be they in portrait or landscape orientation when shot, appear in LrC correctly without my intervention.
