AI Settings not Updating

I am editing photos, selecting subject and making edits and they are not taking. They photos keep going back to original and when you click on the mask it says it needs to be updated. When you click update, it updates it further, making the photos awful.

In /preferences/performance/ turn Off the option to use GPU. See if the issue changes. Basic test to see if the issue is the GPU or GPU driver.

Also, double check that you are making edits in the mask adjustments, not the general panel immediately below. If the mask adjustment panel is minimized, you may be tripping up on that.

And one newbie mistake, just in case, do not conflate the mask overlay with edits.

A screenshot of what you mean by 'awful' would go a long way to helping folk on forum understand your problem. Likewise, providing a copy of your 'System Info', which can be obtained via the LrC Help > System Info menu item.
