Any way to recover lost Lightroom star rating?

Somehow, either when I upgraded my LR catalog version, or when I had the new.

"All Photographs" selected, I managed to get all in the catalog assigned a new 5-stars rating.  I don't know when that was done, but the immediate catalog earlier catalog version shows the correct ratings for all.  Since I have over 100,000 image files from years of using LR and assigning stars, I 'm hoping there is a way to recover those ratings, or maybe export/import from the old to the new.  I've made some edits in the new catalog since that happened, otherwise I would just go back to the old and upgrade it again.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I would just use the earlier catalog. The edits since this earlier catalog was made, which you have in the current catalog can be copied to the new catalog, select the folder(s) with the new edits in the current catalog, then right click on the folder and select "Export This Folder as Catalog", give it a name, do not check any of the options, click OK. Then in the earlier catalog which has all the correct star rating, use File->Import from Another Catalog and then select the catalog just exported. (Detailed instructions here, scroll down to the section entitled "How do I merge two catalogs or import folders from another catalog")
