Application Hang

Community Beginner ,

When I installed the 14.4 update, my LrC broke: it hangs and hangs and hangs... It's unusable. After 3 days of getting run around by "technical experts" at last one admitted that if there's not 16GB RAM, it won't work. Wish I'd known that before ... I installed an earlier version (which worked before the new update), and it's broken too. I hate Adobe!!!!!!!!

Hi @defaultgrt5t99i3ztg

Thanks for sharing your setup. While 16 GB RAM is the minimum for working with basic or small files, you may start noticing performance issues when handling multiple files or large raw images. You can refer to the official system requirements for Lightroom Classic here: Lightroom Classic System Requirements

To get the best experience, try following these steps to optimize Lightroom performance: Optimize Lightroom Classic Performance

Let us know how it goes!

Srishti

Thanks for a reply ... but... According to the link you sent, the minimum is 8GB, but clearly Adobe's lying. "Start noticing issues" and an unusable app are not the same. After all the Optimizing LrC Performance steps (the BS scripts the "experts" read to me), there was no change. I've now un-upgraded, and the older versions are now broken too. I'm losing money from my business. What good are new bells and whistles if the app doesn't work?! ... Maybe I should go back to MacDraw...

Please do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running and important LR options that are set.

Sorry for the confusion. By "this", I meant the information copied above. I used the copy button in the System Info page inside of LrC. Anything missing is because LrC didn't copy it.

Hey @defaultgrt5t99i3ztg, sorry you're having trouble with Lightroom Classic. That can definitely be frustrating.

One thing you might try is launching the app with your third party plug-ins turned off, just to see if one of them might be causing the issue. It would also be really helpful to know if the same problem happens when you create and use a brand new catalog.

Let me know how it goes. I'm happy to help however I can.

Alek

Hi @defaultgrt5t99i3ztg! Sorry to hear the app’s giving you trouble. When you say it’s broken, could you tell me a bit more about what’s happening?

Does it freeze right when you open it, or after using a certain tool? If you’re able to share a screen recording showing when it hangs, that would really help us figure things out.

Thanks a bunch!
Alek
