Assertion failed

This is a work computer so I don't have the option to run anything other than Windows 7 right now. If one could say for certain that it was an issue with windows 7, I could raise the issue with our IT department. I can get Lightroom to open using a default catalog and it seems to be functional, but I can't get it to open the most recent back-up catalog created before we upgraded to 8.1. Once I get the assertion failed error, it won't even open the default catalog and I can't get Lightroom to open unless I delete all the catalogs.

1. I'm not sure, how do I check?

2. This is a desktop.

3. I followed the directions in solution 3 and then tried to relaunch lightroom from the catalog we want it to open and got the "assertion failed" error.

This is the paste of the read-out. I used an empty catalog rather than the one we're trying to use so that I could open Lightroom.

First question is why you did not upgrade to v8.1?

Not able to meet system requirements?

Lightroom Classic CC system requirements

Or, in that same vein, running Windows 8?

Or, if a MAC, not able to run OS Sierra or better?

Mind you, pretty sure this is a Windows OS error.

Or is your Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop app giving you false information as to upgrade available?
