Backlash key not working/ 'No Photo selected'

Hi, I am trying to use a backslash key / ( Mac) in the lightroom but is not working. When I do that it says  'no photo selected' to use as a reference but there is and I can't find tutorials of how to fix this. Also if I set the photo as reference manually every time I edit one photo the other photo changes too, even if I lock it and don't allow me to see the comparison. This all happened after I upgraded the app. I deleted and installed twice and the problem persists. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I assume you mean using the "forwardslash" / key in reference view.

The / key shortcut deselects the most active photo and makes the next photo the active photo in your selected photos.  In reference view, the / key has no effect on the "reference" photo, only the "active" photo.  If you only have one photo selected than hitting the / key will deselect the photo but there is not other photo to go to so the "active" window will dispaly "No photo selected".   This is the expected behavior and Lightroom is working correctly.  This / key seems to work like this everywhere in Lr.

The backslash key \ in reference just displays the before/after view of the "active" photo

David

On a group of selected photos the / works the same for me on Mac whether the Caps Lock is on or off.  It just deselects the most selected photo and moves to the next one and makes it the most selected.

That's exactly what happened. I was definitely not paying attention. Thanks a lot!
