Question

Batch merge Auto Exposure Bracketing images in Lightroom Classic

I often have a hundred or more pics in AEB shots. I have to select 5 then merge them into 1 photo. Is there a way to apply the merge function to a whole folder, please?

Have a look at my summary of today’s new features including batch Photo Merge:

Hi - I was excited by this new feature - but I can't get it to work!  In fact since I installed the update, I can't get headless hdr merge to work either!  Anyone else? Windows 10 - Lightroom Classic 8.4

No, not that I know of.

One bit of lessons learned, if I start one merge, then while that is running start another, Ok, but if I keep adding merges to the process, eventually it appears too many are running, and the princess fails. So my rig can only do so many.

Mind you, LR this way does not finish one merge before going to the next one,.

LR 7 fixed this: "Multiple merge operations are now added to a job queue behind the scenes to avoid impacting UI responsiveness."

When I initiate many merges at once, the progress bar shows that LR is doing just one at a time:

If this isn't happening for you, you should file a bug report in the official feedback forum.

Yes, that is what I was referring to, but with some cloudy memory as it has been awhile since I did it.

Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question. I want to do a whole folder of

photos at one time. I.E. from 100 shots, (5 each of the same shot), I want

    20 photos. 100/5=20.

    1. Select all the photos and do Photo > Stacking > Auto-Stack By Capture Time. This will group each set of bracketed photos into their own stack.

    2. Do Photo > Stacking > Collapse All Stacks.

    3. Select a stack, hold down Shift, and do Photo > Photo Merge > HDR. That will do a "headless merge", using the previously used merge settings. Repeat for each stack.

You can do step 3 quickly with keyboard shortcuts: With the first stack selected, do Shift+Ctrl+H and then right arrow. Repeat until all stacks are queued for merging.

Unfortunately, you can't select all the stacks and do Shift+Ctrl+H due to a silly long-standing bug that Adobe hasn't fixed: Lightroom: "Internal error" when initiating multiple headless merges | Photoshop Family Customer Community . Please visit that bug report and click Me Too and Follow -- that will make it a little more likely Adobe will prioritize a fix, and you'll be notified when the bug's status changes.
