BATCH RENAMES - DATES with HYPHENS or UNDERSCORE

Greetings all!  I batch rename photos to begin with YYYY-MM-DD.  The choice was previously available in Camera Raw.  Now the selection is neither available in Camera Raw nor Lightroom Classic.  Sorry you young creatives, scrunching the date all-together is not easy on my 72-year-old eyes.  Adobe technical support dismissed my two requests to add back the preset choice.  Even this tutorial showed YYYY-MM-DD format.  How do we get Adobe technical (typically men) to bring back both the date with hyphen and underscore?

Rethinking this, your underlying issue, what may or may not have been default rename templates.

Not at a computer, but using google, I suspect the as installed the default set looks like

YYY-MM-DD may have either been one way back pre subscription, or very likely one you saved at some point. It would be considered a preset. LrC has had issues with user presets going missing. Usually during an update that rearranges Adobe support files structure. Recommend you simply recreate one, and then it will be available as before.

You can use the Rename Template Editor to make a Date format in many ways. Any way you want in fact!

eg. YYYY/MM/DD  YYYY-MM-DD  YYYY_MM_DD  YYYYMMDD  YYYYmonthDD, etc

So 'build' your required format in the Template Editor and save as a Preset.

We should not have to do any of this...just add to the drop down list.

Goodness, why was the selection taken away to begin with?

"...just add to the drop down list."

Yes. Do it yourself.  Create and add you own Rename Preset.

Your Rename Presets may be totally different to the millions of other LrC users. and I would not want everyone's preset in a default list!

Mine is bad enough. 🙂
