Beginner seeking help processing Hasselblad X1D RAW images

Hello - I've been using Lightroom Classic (and the mobile products)  for a while with my Leica camera but have recently started shooting RAW on a Hasselblad X1D. I like the Lightroom file management capabilities and it is where all my images are stored and catalogued.

 

I'm asking for help to determine the workflow I should adopt with the X1D and Lightroom Classic on my iMac.

 

As I understand it the X1D stores RAW images as 3FR files. I use Phocus to process these and this produces FFF files.

 

How should I get these files into Lightroom? Can I bypass Phocus or should I export from Phocus in TIFF or DNG format and from there import them to Lightroom?

Yes, a lot of people like this; but — please be aware that your images are NOT stored in Lightroom. They are stored on your hard disk, wherever you put them, or wherever you tell Lightroom to put them.

 

How should I get these files into Lightroom?

 

You just import them directly. You don't need to perform any other steps to get Lightroom to recognize them.

Yes, I store my images on an external RAID device.

 

So your suggestion to import the files directly from the camera would certainly be fast and familiar. 

I just wonder if Lightroom Classic would do the same basic processing on the RAW 3FR files as would Phocus, in particular the moire removal and Hasselblad colour correction?

Two different software will never produce identical outputs. Only you can decide (by looking at the results) if Phocus should be a part of the workflow.

 

Also, some manufacturer's software (perhaps Phocus, I don't know, I have never used it) can read proprietary information stored by the camera in the RAW file and use that to adjust the appearance of the RAW photo based on that information. Lightroom does not do this, but I don't consider this to be a serious drawback; to me the end result that I care about is the final appearance of the photo after editing, not the initial appearance, and for my photos and my camera, the end result from Lightroom is acceptable and I don't find a need to complicate the workflow with additional software. Your opinion may be different.
