Question

Borderless printing with Lightroom Classic / auto crop of picture in LrC before printing

I am new to Lightroom and this forum and appreciate any constructive feedback.

I have tried printing borderless photos on 8.5 x 11 paper from LrC to my Canon Pro-1000. I am working on an iMac in Ventura 13.4. I set the margins in LrC to zero and the magnification level on the printer is set to medium. But the photos still print about 8 x 10 with a frame around them.

Also, when I go from Develop to Print, LrC uniformly crops the photo, cutting off part of the photo all around. Almost like a zoom. Why is that happening and what can be done to prevent it?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

To print the image completely covering the page several things need to be set and they are dependent on each other so should be done in logical sequence:

Print driver: Borderless mode  set (or a borderless page setup chosen)

Page margins reduced to zero - which can only be done once Borderless is set; and does not happen automatically

Image cell enlarged as big as it will now go, after zeroing page margins - this does not happen automatically

Photo is - in both directions - touching all edges of its containing image cell (autorotate plus zoom-to-fill will ensure this)

I have tried all of your suggestions and am still not able to print borderless photos. Are there some sizes that will not print borderless?

Have you followed the Canon instructions for borderless printing?

Turn off Zoom to Fill in the Print Module to prevent cropping

Thank you all for your suggestions. I turned off Zoom to Fill and that helped. And I selected borderless in Page Setup. But it is still printing with a border, just smaller all around the photo.

I don't know if it applies to all printer drivers, but the Page Setup for my Epson printer displays an Expansion button when I select borderless printing. The settings in the Expansion dialogue box have a significant affect on the resulting print.

As @cmgap said, you have to choose borderless in Page Setup

In addition to setting your margins to zero you may want to check your Printer Settings to see if you have borderless selected there.

I do not have any borderless options.  I want 8.5 X 11 borderless.... and I want it baked in the file as I send it to others to print.

It's unusual not to have a borderless option. What printer are you using?

If you send other people an image without any borders then that is what they will see on their screens, but you can't "bake in" borderless printing to an image you send to others. How a recipient chooses to print your photo is up to them and the capabilities of their printer.
