Question

Camera Calibrations In Lightroom Classic

Hi all,

I have been looking both on the net as well as in the forums but cant find the answer to my question.

It seems with LR Classic, Camera Calibrations have been disabled.

I have tried Windows/panels and clicking on Camera Calibration but it does nothing and when I go back into it, it shows it still hasn't been enabled.

Are they doing away with it altogether?

Cheers,

Steve

I'm hoping to get the camera back this week so once i have it, I will get some pics and play around with Lightroom to see how they go. If I get any great results, I will post some pics..

Thanks again for all your help and comments.

    Cheers,

    Steve

    Hi all,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you all..family problems..anyhow, they are sorted for the time being..

Thanks for all your help and replies!!.

I have found the Calibrations in the side panel.

The reason why I was after the camera calibrations is because I have an old Nikon D60 camera that I am in the process of having the internal filter removed to convert it into a full spectrum camera.

I have also purchased infrared filters as I want to get into Infrared photography.

As I have never ventured down this type of photography before I have been watching Youtube videos on how to process the photos in Lightroom.

In the videos they say to make sure that the Camera Calibration settings are set for the camera that I will be using but as these are old videos, pre Lightroom Classic. I gather this process is no longer required?

If anyone on here has done infrared photography, some hints and tips would be appreciated.

Cheers and thanks again for all those who responded to my original post!!!!

I have never ventured down that path, and probably won't at this point. But I don't think the process has changed, nor have the requirements. The only thing that may be different is how you implement the process. I wish I could provide more assistance in this area. Maybe my comment will pull your discussion to the top again and someone with more knowledge will chip in with some real information.

Same for me. I have no personal experience with this, but I agree with Jim that there should not really be any difference between what the old videos show and the current situation (except for the location of the profiles section).

This is repeating what others have said, but with screenshots.

With LR Classic CC 7.3, there is a Calibration panel at the bottom that ONLY has calibrations, not the camera profile, anymore:

And the [Camera] Profile is selectable up top between the Treatment and WB areas, above Basic toning:

Calibration settings are now in the Basic  panel, right beneath the histogram. There are a lot of new profiles that have been added for raw files. When you are working with JPEG or other non-raw images there will be a limited number of categories available. Have you not seen the calibration session in the Basic panel?

A small correction: the camera profiles have been moved to the Basic panel. The calibration sliders are still where they used to be (except that the panel is now simply called 'Calibration'), and if the OP can't open that panel then there is a problem.

I don't know that there needs to be a correction because the OP didn't specifically mention sliders. If people could clearly state their problem it might be easier to pinpoint the solution. Since we don't have all the facts, don't you think it's a good idea to point out all the "possible" solutions? Or would you prefer to read between the lines and assume?

The "Camera Calibration" panel is now called just "Calibration" panel (though the Window menu>Panels still incorrectly shows Camera Calibration). The profile selector within that panel has been removed from that panel and moved to the top of the Basic Panel in Classic 7.3 (which was the headline feature in 7.3). The calibration sliders within the Calibration panel are still there, and should still work, as should the Process version selector.

So, what are you saying here: the Calibration panel won't open, or that it opens but nothing is enabled (make sure the little on/off panel switch at the left end of the Calibration panel header isn't in the off position), or were you just looking for the Profile selector which has been moved? A screenshot of your Calibration panel would help.

A screenshot of the Basic panel might also help. You could be one of those people who have updated a Lightroom 6 installation with the Lightroom Classic updaters. Something that should not have been possible, but unfortunately it was and causes major problems now.
