Can I run standalone Lightroom 6 on two Macs?

Hello,

Back in 2019 I purchased a standalone version of Photoshop Lightroom 6 which I am still running on an old MacBook Pro. I am thinking about buying my wife a MacBook Pro and am wondering whether I would be able to download it onto her MacBook Pro and run it on both machines?

If this is possible, would it run on either mac OS Monterey or mac OS Sonoma, or is the latest version it will run on Mojave?

It would be best to read the license agreement on the Lightroom 6 disc to make sure, but chances are it says it is a single-user license, which allows you to run on any two computers, for a single user (one of you, not both).

But that may all be moot because like Geoff said, Lightroom 6 doesn’t run on any Apple Silicon Macs, and even on the older Intel Macs it won’t install on the last few versions of macOS.

Hello.... Lr6 is no longer supported or compatible with recent operating systems. So while a new MBP for your wife is ideal Lr6 can not be used on any operating systems compatible with it. Lightroom 6 was the last standalone version and released in 2015 so almost 9 years ago. Much has changed in that time.

I do recommend you update to the current Lightroom Classic v13 on a subscription plan, that can be used on both older and current OS's of Macs. Keep in mind Apple no longer use Intel chips so your older Mac will soon be unusable as PowerPC ones are redundant now.
