can't find detail panel in Lightroom Classic (in order to edit mp4 file)

Online it says YES, LR classic can edit video.   But go to Detail Panel.   I look at videos and their image of Lightroom includes a list with "Detail" in it.

And it's taken me at least 15 min to find a "community" to post in.   I'm sure this is not the right one.

Lightroom Classic can only make basic edits to videos in the Quick Develop panel of the Library module. You cannot edit videos while in the Develop module (that's where the Detail panel is, so you can't use that).

I know you're right about this as it's what I see on my monitor and can use.   And I really appreciate your getting back to me.    But ....  what's with the ADOBE help page:

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/edit-videos.html#trim-videos

??

Says:

Import videos to Lightroom

  1. Click ( ) icon on the left to bring up My Photos panel.

In My Photos panel, import the video or choose the album that contains the video you want to edit.

  2. If you're in Photo Grid (

) view or Square Grid (

) view, select the video you want to edit. Now, click (

) icon in the toolbar at the bottom to switch to Detail view.

If you're already in Detail (

) view, select the video that you want to edit from the filmstrip appearing at the bottom of your current selection.

    Note:

You can use the editing controls only in Detail view.

  3. To bring up the Edit panel in Detail view, click (

) icon at the upper-right corner.

You can now expand/collapse the panels to access edit controls organized under─ProfileLight, Color, Effects

    IF ONLY:

Is this something for the future?   or Lightroom (not) Classic has this ability.   I'm very perplexed.

That linked page is about videos in Lightroom, not in Lightroom Classic.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
