Cannot open my backup Lightroom Classic catalog

When I try to open a LR Classic CC catalog on an external backup drive I get this message:

The Lightroom catalog cannot be used because the parent folder “/Volumes/easystore/Backups.backupdb/Maureen’s iMac (2)/2020-01-03-162058/Macintosh HD/Users/maureenflanagan/Pictures/Master Catalog” does not allow files to be created within it.

How can I set it up so I can get the files?

Also, if the backup is in a ZIP file, you need to unzip it first before you use it.

Put the backup of your catalog in a different folder, one that you know you can write to.
