Canon 80D raw file import in Lightroom 6

Hi all,

Firstly please accept my apologies if this has been answered elsewhere. I've asked online support and read forums and read conflicting answers.

I've recently acquired a Canon 80D camera and shoot in RAW format. I'm looking to purchase a perpetual license for Lightroom 6 but am concerned that the version of Lightroom 6 may not handle RAWs from the 80D. I'm aware that DNG convertors exist but ideally I don't want the hassle of having to convert daily.

If I purchased Lightroom 6 outright, would I have access to a free update to the version necessary to import RAWs taken on the 80D?

Any help and insight would be hugely appreciated.

    You need to update to Lightroom 6.5 or later. YOu can download and install LR 6.14 from Download Photoshop Lightroom

    Many thanks. Just to clarify, is that an additional cost to buying Lightroom 6 or are updates inclusive?

    No. the updates for LR 6 are free.

    I have Lightroom 6.14 with Raw 10.1 but when I click updates it tells me I have the latest version. When I download the application from th elink you provide above it is still V6, NOT v6.5

    Am I entitled to 6.5 and if so, how do I get it?

    You say "Update to LR 6.5 or later" but provide the link to 6.14. And when you install 6.14 it claims that is the latest version when doing a Help>Updates.

    Is there a manual 6.5 update or package version?

    Ok Fuh moment...6.14 is the latest version...I figured it was 6.1.4 but's release 14.

    OK so change my question I have 6.14 with Camera Raw 10.1

    I cannot open my Canon 80D Raw files...

    Anyone know if it is possible without going the DNG route?
