Canon M5 RAW

Hi there,

I used the first time the canon m5 raw formate instead of Canon 5D raw. Now it's not possible to show the pictures in Lightroom 5.7.1. And there is no option to update Lightroom to a newer edition. It always says it's up to the newest update. So what to do now?

The Canon M5 was first supported in Lightroom 6.8 so you'll never be able to open those Raw files in Lightroom 5.7.1 since there are no more updates for 5.7.1.

    Options:

    1. Pay to join the Cloud and open the M5 Raw files in Lightroom CC, or
    2. Pay to upgrade to Lightroom 6 then (free) update to 6.12 and edit M5 Raw files, or
    3. Free option: download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all M5 Raw files to DNG format. Then edit the DNG files (not the Raw files) in 5.7.1. An extra step for you but no extra cost since you don't need to pay to upgrade Lightroom.

    HI sabinep,

Lightroom CC 2015.8/6.8 and later version does support Canon M5 camera. Since you are unable to upgrade your Lightroom software, then you can download the DNG converter and convert your M5 raw images in dng format which will go with the existing version of Lightroom you have.

Download link for DNG Converter: Adobe Digital Negative Converter 9.x
