Changing the location of original files in Lightroom Classic CC

Hello, all,

When I import photos to Lightroom Classic CC, Lightroom saves original copies of all imported photos in my 'This PC>Pictures' folder. It has made a folder for, and organized each import by date under a '2016', '2017', '2018', etc folder inside my main Pictures folder.

How can I change the default location where Lightroom Classic CC stores these original copies?

I've tried moving each yearly folder into an umbrella folder and updating locations in Lightroom. However, when I make a new import, Lightroom ignores the new file location and makes a new 2019 folder again under the This PC>Pictures folder.

I'm running Windows 10.

Any help would be appreciated.

Start with some research and read the info at- https://www.lightroomqueen.com/where-store-your-photos/?utm_source=feedblitz&utm_medium=FeedBlitzRss&utm_campaign=lightr…

The Location of your files with the Import dialog depends on several things- 1) How you import [Add, Copy], 2) The Destination folder options selected in the Destination panel, and 3) the 'Parent' folder you have selected in the Destination folder panel.

You can change the location where the photos are imported into by changing the values in the Destination Panel in the Import dialog box.
