If you mean the toolbar in the Library module, which does have grid/single picture icons, press T to show (or hide) it.

FYI, in Library view-

CTRL+A  selects ALL images in the grid view.

CTRL+D  De-selects ALL images in the grid view (as does clicking on the background behind the preview thumbnails, if it is visible!)

and then there is the common

CTRL+LEFT CLICK  on photos to select multiple random photos.

LEFT CLICK (at the beginning), then SHIFT+LEFT CLICK (at the end) to select a series of photos beginning to end.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

The Library module doesn't have Check All, Uncheck All, and the grid/single picture icons, but the Import window does:

Does your Import window have those at the bottom? If not, post a full-resolution screenshot of the entire LR window.

Thanks very much for the help; confused myself because I couldn't see the bar. Got it back with T. So great that people bother to help, thanks again.
