Content aware fill or Remove not working in LR Classic (Windows, newest version)

Why is it impossible to juste remove or "content aware fill" sometghing with the remove tool in LR Classic?

If I mark the bush in the corner with the remove tool, there is always a piece left - but not really left, but just "generated" as new bush ... why? How can I just simple do a "content aware fill" as in PS for years (decades?).

(left image result, right image original [sry, couldn't replace them or change order or even add a screenshot with the settings here in the forum]

This is a known problem, caused by cropping or lens corrections. Lightroom Classic is a non-destructive editor, so cropping and lens corrections are just an overlay. The underlaying image is still the full image. That confuses content aware remove or generative remove, because it sees a small part of the bush that is not selected by the brush (because the brush stops at the cropped edge, not at the edge of the photo). So the tool then tries to match the new pixels to that, resulting in the creation of a new bush. To solve this, always remove stuff before you crop, and if that is still not enough, then (temporarily) disable lens corrections as well.

Lightroom is NOT a photo retouching app. You should probably do this kind of work in Photoshop.

I do ... but LR convey an impression through release notes and other stuff, that this kind of removing disturbing artefacts is now a full feature of LR

Can you post a video capture of your issue?

  • Also, what exact LrC version (V13.4?)
  • What exact OS version?
  • What GPU and what GPU driver version?
