Converted negatives to positive leave 'People' as negatives?

I have scanned a B&W negative and loaded it into LR Classic CC. I have used the Tone Curve to make it a positive & then identified People in the photo. When I go to People in LR all the faces are still in negative, even though they were identified from the positive. Is there a way to make the faces in People show as positives?

Correct answer wildglio

That sounds pretty much the way I have used it as well.

I have now had it from the guru himself - Ed Hamrick of VueScan - that the easy way is to set "Output | TIFF file" and then set "Output | TIFF DNG format". You have the DNG format and the positive image.

LR is a non-destructive parametric editor. That means that the edits you do are recorded in the database while a temporary preview is displayed on the screen, but the original is untouched. When you click "Export" a new image file incorporating the edits is created. So your original is still a negative. Export the positive version and then import that photo to do your Face Recognition.

Thanks elie_di, I can see that this will work, but I will have over 1500 images to convert etc. If this is the only way I guess I will have to bite the bullet!

Hi JimHess. I am using VueScan, which displays the positive but then saves the DNG as a negative. I probably haven't selected the correct settings!

That's the scanning software I use. But you don't just choose the file format that you want to save to. You also need to choose the type of media that you are scanning.

When you choose a color or black and white negative, then it will scan a positive image.
