Converts to B/W when entering develop module

Hello,

Today Lightroom has started converting images to B/W when I press D or enter the develop module. I've tried restarting the PC, restarting LR, clearing/resetting preferences and nothing - I've even uninstalled LR and removed all preferences when doing so.  Upon reinstalling, it seemed to have worked for about 20 minutes, then it started converting them again.  It does it with Canon and Nikon raw files, DNG, TIF, PSD and JPEG (basically all the file formats that I have in LR).  Any help would be great!  I'm really not sure where to go or what to try next.  Google hasn't been that helpful - most returns are just tutorials on how to convert images to B/W.

Thanks!

Nope, no presets are applied when I import.  I've made that mistake in the past so that was one of the first things I checked.  I forgot to mention that in my original post.

Previews are enabled on import and I do remember those being created Monday.  I took some more pictures yesterday for testing and nothings changed during the import process.  No presets are applied, previews are built and the photos are imported to their respective HDD.

This is a long-shot, but it may be due to LR Catalog or Previews folder corruption. Try this:

1) Create a new LR catalog using menu File> New Catalog.

2) Import some of the same image files that appear as B&W in the current catalog.

3) Edit them in the new catalog using the Develop module the same way and see if they also turn B&W or stay in color.

After you press D and the photo is converted to b&w what is the TOP item or items in the history list?   Do this on a newly imported photo to eliminate any other possible commands

The top item in the history is convert to black and white.  Newly imported photos do the same.  I've also checked and there are no presets being applied when I import.  I've also tried doing SHIFT+Reset, which hasn't worked.  I read about resetting default settings for your camera in the develop module.  I tried this as well and it's still doing it.  I even tried taking a photo with a different camera, same results.

Bring up your import screen, check that you do not have a preset applied.

And, inquiry, do you perhaps not have any previews created during import, and as such no library previews created and no previews created until you  enter develop?
