Question

Copy LR files and Pictures folder to M1 mac

Looking for help and advice so I don't stuff up.

From my old iMac (now 10 years old and sadly having issues) I have copied the LR export catalogue and Pictures folders to an external drive. I now want to import all these files to an M1 Mac mini. This M1 Mac mini already has LR Classic installed which has a few hundred images already installed from a camera flash card.

My Questions:

1. If I copy all files to LR Classic on the M1 Mac mini do I run the risk of 'doubling' up any LR catalog files? I have attached a screenshot of file folders in the Export Catalog folder.

2. Does the Pictures folder need treating differently?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Thanks Johan. The problem is that it not really a new M1 Mac mini computer and clean LR Classic program I am importing to. It's an existing, current version LR Classic program on the 'new' M1 Mac mini that already has 600 or so images loaded. My concern is potential LR Catalog conflict when old LR  files and pictures are introduced.

The Lightroom Queen link content does not address my situation. I am relatively new to the Lightroom world and apologise for perhaps overthinking the issue. For example, is a file conflict possible? What I really need are simple, specific instructions on what I need to do. Thanks again.

Use the link as described and when you are finished, open the copied catalog, choose 'File - Import from Another Catalog' and import the existing catalog with those 600 images. That will merge both catalogs.

Thanks for that Johan. Makes sense and will follow your advice tomorrow.
