Hi, i run Lightroom CC and all worked perfectly until my PC crashed and burned since the I have rebuilt the PC (Win 10) and reinstalled Lightroom with the normal download from Adobe. Installation went without any problems.

However now I cannot get the Crop Guide Overlay with the Thirds, Golden Spiral and others to work. When I type Control+O the program goes straight to the Open Catalog screen.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom a number of times removing all vestiges of the previous software each time to no avail. I still have no Golden Spiral.

Can anyone help?

1. Enter Crop Tool [ R ]

2. Press [ O ]  (letter O not number 0)

  • A Crop Guide should appear (it may not be the one you want).  If it doesn't, press the [ H ] (hide/unhide). If it still doesn't you have to reset your preference file.

3. Continue to tap the [ O ] until the Golden Spiral Crop Overlay appears.

4. Once the Golden Spiral Appears you can press [Shift]+[ O ] to cycle through Clockwise/Counter-Clockwise from each corner. (There are 8 total Golden Spiral overlay variations)

NOTE:  No where do

Ctrl+O in the LIbrary Module gives you Open Catalog

Ctrl+O in the Develop Module, with the crop overlay selected, should let you cycle through the different overlays.

It's just the O key to toggle the overlay, not  Ctrl/O. Of course, the crop tool must be activated for this to work.

[Shift]+ also cycles the 8 Variations of the Golden Spiral once it is on-screen.

Sorry Guy's Shift+O & Ctrl+O takes me to the Open Catalog window. When I turn the Crop Tool on I get a Horizontal and Vertical Line centered on the bottom right third and I can't cycle through the tools.

Make sure you have all the overlays you desire activated.

With the crop tool active, go to

menu: /tools/crop guide overlay/choose overlays to cycle...

Sorry Guy's, None of the "o"'s work ctrl or shift or both and I'm typing  o not zero. As for the crop guide overlay to choose the overlays to cycle all of these are grayed out. I tried the ctrl+shift+H but that as no effect either.

Many thanks Staff problem solved. I am positive that I tried all these variations before I posted the problem, obviously I didn't do this one.

Nice to have my spiral back.

What happens if you just press the O key? No shift, no alt, no Ctrl.

And you are performing this Shift-O in the Develop Module, with the Crop tool selected?

Are you sure you are pressing letter O and not number 0?
