Ctrl + D does NOT work on LR Classic

Unfortunately In LR Classic 11.3.1 Windows the shortcut to deselect images does NOT work sometimes. It is arbitrary, sometimes it works sometimes not. It always works going to the edit menu and select none.

But the key shortcut most of the time doesn't do anything. It is a pain because when i enter keywords to a new selected image  the Ctrl D didn't work so I enter the wrong metadata to those files. Going everytime to the menu is a slow alternative. 

I have seen from other posts that this bug is around since 2018. How is this not fixed yet.
