D7000 Tethered Capture Not Working

I've used tethered capture for years. Just upgraded to a new IMac running High Sierra, 10.13.6, and subscribe to LR Classic CC. I am unable to tether my D7000 for image download into LR. I've reset LR preferences and updated my Nikon firmware. So far, I've had to remove the SD card after every photo shoot - lucky the computer has a SD slot.

Tethering is what's needed!

I started reading in the forums and the most recent post I saw ( 2016) said that I have two choices, downgrade my OS or do a LR pay-for upgrade. REALLY Adobe???

Please tell me Adobe isn't this user unfriendly. Is there a workaround? Or should I get out of LR all together and use something else.

Thank for your help!!!

Ok, did not notice that the original discussion is so old. Has the OP, perhaps moved on, has the issue been resolved. Was my previous post if no value.

Stop stop stop!!!

one issue of contention is extremely not clear. Version.

So, please, please, with sugar on top, accomplish the following

In Lightroom, click on Help, click on System Information, click on Copy. Paste that in your next reply.

This will provide several provable important bits of info, LR version, OS version and build, display size, GPU make and model, GPU driver version, if LR is using Metal (good) or OpenGL(bad) (DirectX in Windows OS). Your enabled plug-ins., info after that rarely if use in this forum.

Oh, one additional bit of info, that the above might not supply, tether plug-in version.

Same problem with my EOS 6D.  So frustrating!  Updated my OS and no more tethered capture.  For me, that eliminates the major feature I found useful with LR.  Any help on this???

What "Same problem"? The OP was apparently asking about Importing by downloading photos to the computer (not tethering)

The EOS 6D has been supported for tethering since Lightroom Version 5.2 https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/tethered-camera-support.html

A list of cameras that can be tethered to Lightroom Classic CC and Lightroom 6

You do not state your version of Lightroom, or the OS you updated- so there may be an incompatibility there with the OS.

Have you checked the Tethering Troubleshoot guide to see if any of the tips helps?

Thank you for your consideration. Let me try to clarify my issue.

For years, I've taken photos with my Nikon D7000, and using the USB cable have downloaded the images by connecting the camera to the USB port on the MAC.

In January, I purchased a new IMAC, running Mac OS Sierra 10.13.6, AND subscribed to Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom Classic in order to engage the new software. After so doing, Lightroom no longer was able to access the camera via cable. Every time I finish a shoot I have to remove the SD cards and insert them into the SD port on the IMAC, use image capture and then manually bring them into Lightroom. Total drag. I should clarify, I use Lightroom Classic CC, as I do not want to purchase and use icloud.

I upgraded the Nikon firmware and tried my best to make it work, still no luck. It appears that Lightroom "sees" the images, they appear, and then, when asked to import, loses them.

My question is still the same. Are there compatibility issues between Lightroom Classic CC, High Sierra and the Nikon? One thing I read was that certain USB features associated with Nikon tethering were striped from the latest Mac OS.

Ca you recommend a different forum if this is not an appropriate question for this one? I've called Nikon and they don't support Lightroom (obviously).

Or, should I look into a different database program all together. Thank you.

I use  Nikon D750, so I cannot claim to have the answers for you, but some comments-

Lightroom no longer was able to access the camera via cable

And does this apply also to Mac Finder and Image Capture via the USB cable? ie. is there a fault with the cable or the USB ports on your computer or camera?

use image capture

Can you try just using the SD port on the IMAC to Import direct with Lightroom (using the "Copy" option) without involving {Image Capture}?

I do not want to purchase and use icloud.

I do not know what you mean by this! Is this Mac icloud?

Lightroom-Classic is a "Desktop" system. You do not have to use the 'Cloud' at all, with one exception- Installs and Activation of software is done with the Creative Cloud Desktop App.

Lightroom "sees" the images, they appear, and then, when asked to import, loses them.

This explanation is somewhat vague to me, so more detail is needed. The exact steps you take, what you see on screen, etc.  What do you mean by "loses them"? Screen-clips would help.

There must be quite a few Lightroom users with the Nikon D7000, and it would be very strange if it were not compatible with Lightroom.

Can you recommend a different forum?

You could also post at- Lightroom Classic CC | Photoshop Family Customer Community

This 'Community' forum is mostly watched by other Lightroom users, many of them with expert knowledge, but not always seen by Adobe staff.

Or, should I look into a different database program all together?

There is nothing better than Lightroom IMO. Try to solve your import problems first.
