The new DNG is always saved in the same folder as the original. Whether or not it appears in your main grid and film strip depends on what the main grid is set to show. If your main grid has an active filter, for example a filter on raw files, then the denoised DNG will not show because it is not a raw file. Same if you selected a smart collection that searches on raw files.

The reason I mentioned the fact you could go back into the original in lightroom and use the denoise fuction again on the same image , was that when it was working properly once you had run denoise when I went back into the original file in lightroom denoise was greyed out . If that is not the case on your system that might be another clue to what is wrong. You take about filter on raw files, but you are not saying how to check and more important how to fix it. I thought the community was about helping people fix things and that is not possible if explaination on how to do it are not included. Most of time you will be dealing with people that have limited knowledge of the systems and will not know where to find things.

You cannot denoise an already denoised file.

You can repeatedly denoise the same original raw file.

Denoise produces a demosaiced RGB file, and the Denoise function does not work on demosaiced data. It only works on unmosaiced raw files straight from the camera sensor.

The filter bar is at the top of the Library workspace. Other than that you may be in a Collection or Smart Collection, which has its own panel on the left side of the Library workspace.

The Denoised file is always saved in the original folder.

Check your sort order in LrC.

Sorry I am new to this , when I first started using denoise it would run and at the end it would put the processed new file in the main work area  full size to enable you to carry on editing and in the film strip next to original with the new file name.  Where is this sort function ? the only one I can see is in the libriary module. How would I set this up to correct the problem ?

Yes, it's in Library:

I have set it to capture time plus it says no active filters . In the film strip there are still Enhanced-NR.dng files that I did 3 weeks ago. Still when I run the denoise at the end the image disappears and you are left with the following message.  No photo selected       also when you click on the image the denoise button is still active you can process the same file as many times as you like.
