Question

Denoised/Enhanced images won't merge to HDR.

What I really want to accomplish is an HDR merge of images that have been NR/Enhanced.

I use the new AI denoise on 3 bracketed images. I select the 3 enhanced versions and select, "merge to HDR."

No window with HDR merge options opens. No deghosting settings etc. Though immediately it tells me 3 processes are going and then it serves up 3 of what it calls, "enhanced-NR-HDR."

Except they are identical copies of the 3 images I have selected to merge rather than 1 composite of the 3.

In brief, highlighting 3 NR images and choosing merge to HDR outputs copies of the 3 input files.

Of course, if I merge the images first, then NR is no longer available.

Is a New app coming out specifically for merging? Because I love it when functionally is removed from programs so that things you depend on that have always been included now require additional subscription fees.

Of course, for my convenience.

The remainder of my salty attitude has been edited out. I open myself to extreme possibilities.

I'm pretty sure I'm just reporting a bug.

@Hunter Wade

Very interesting. While Adobe says Only Bayer and Xtrans raw images will  be processed by Denoise, I have been able to use that new feature  quite well on my DJI Phantom 3 Pro DNG images. At this point I'm assuming the straight out of the camera DNGs are Bayer files.

@KR Seals
I am getting results with my DNG files (It's an adobe original format after all) good enough to cause me to reconsider replacing photo raw with DXO.

So I can report the DNG format indeed is Denoising and Enhancing in LRC.

Thanks again for your time and support.

A few AI Denoised edits.

I have discovered the bug and solved the iisue with my bare hands and the power of will.

Unawares of the fact that stacks do things, I had the denoised images stacked with the OG file and was selecting 3 stacks of 2 photos each. The OG image and the AI altered image were being HDR merged and since I had selected 3 stacks, I got 3 HDR images that more or les looked like the OG because.. You get the picture.

I'll check my humility. I'll likely have a better time.
Thanks for your time, gents.

Check my other reply. At lease some DJI DNG files do work in Denoise.

I will check my Canon photos momentarily.
Thank you.

@Hunter Wade DNGs are not currently supported in LrC 12.3 Denoise. The manual noise reduction should work fine on those.

I just ran this scenario on my LrC 12.3, Win 10 pro, I7-8700K, 64GB, RTX 3070TI rig.

1. Denoise each of three images shot at -2, Meter and +2 exposures. Each denoise worked fine.

2. Merged the resulting 3 NR.DNG images to a single HDR image. The whole project worked normally. The images were ISO 500 Nikon Z9 files.

I'm not discounting your experience, but the process works fine for me. Hopefully other forum members will give it a try and report their results and hardware configuration.
