Question

Do not steal focus

Can you make Lr Classic CC not steal focus in Windows?

I know you've worked very very hard to steal focus, because MS has disabled that functionality around the year 2000 and it takes lots of hacks to achieve it.

However the 10s it takes to load Lr Classic you steal focus 6 times, making the whole computer unusable for that time.

Funnily, it used to be PS CC that did the annoying steal focus, but they turned off that annoyance just as you decided to turn it on last year.

A lot of people have complained about this over the years. Please add your constructive opinion to this bug report in the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom: Stealing focus on launch | Photoshop Family Customer Community . Be sure to click Me Too and Follow in the upper-right corner. Who knows, maybe it will get fixed before the next ice age.

Hi Usestock,

That isn't a great user experience as Lightroom Classic is stealing focus, we're sorry to hear about this. Which version of Lightroom are you using?  To verify the version you're using : Choose Help > System Info.

  1. You have LR Classic CC set up to launch Import if a memory card is sensed..do you have a card in a card reader?
  2. You have your OS setup to launch LR when a memory card or a just connected ext hard drive  is attached. (Windows Settings/Devices/Autoplay)
  3. You have your OS Setup in Focus Assist to do something odd (Windows Settings/System/Focus Assist) On mine, its off.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Akash

Have you tested this yourself, Akash? Just launch Lightroom for Windows and try and do something else while it is launching.

It happens for everyone, regardless of Lightroom version.

Many programs in the Windows ecosystem push them on top when nobody asked them to do that. I always regretted the good old times with X11 where you put the mouse in a window and that window kept focus...
