There is no longer any on-line activation for Lr 6. To do the move, you will need to follow these instructions https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-move-lightroom-to-new-computer/ and then to install Lr 6 you will need to use the offline activation method https://community.adobe.com/t5/download-install-discussions/lightroom-6-on-a-new-pc/m-p/14638713#M580921

I purchased Lightroom 6 DVD many years ago. Computer recently crashed so had to install LR again. Have disk and serial number. It appeared to install but when I open the program it opens for a few seconds and then shuts down. Hoping someone can help me. Thank  you.

my Mac book pro was stolen and I need to install Lightroom 6  (retailed box version) in my new mac book pro (nov 2024) I already had trouble running it on my LG DVD ROM drive due to low power, when i finally managed to open the disk; the instalation package had a 🚫 symbol and I cannot install it.

I read that this new mac doesnt support 32 bits apps but only 64, so i was going to give up on my research but to my surprise the lightroom box says it supports 62 bits.

I do not know what the problem is and do not want to purchase a plan because i already have bought the app on a CD and i do not need cloud servises.

any advice?

thank you.

I had a very similar problem, in that I needed to install LR6 on a different Mac after collapse on the original Mac and, despite going through all the correct processes and having the original DVD and documentation, the install was not allowed.

Like you I didn't want the plan or the cloud services, just reinstall my legal copy.

I think my problem was that I had not registered  my original purchase with Adobe so they did not recognise the serial number as authentic, and so thought it was a fraudulent attempt. It was very frustrating to say the least.

In the end, I had to buy a 1 year licence, and this time make sure to register it.

If you did not register your original purchase, you may be unable to reinstall on your new Mac?

Hi,

I've got a problem with my Lr 6.0 ver box. I installed it on my new laptop, when I want to luch it, I have a pop up window with info: Sign in required - signing in with an Adobr ID is required to activate the software. Enter your Adobe ID to access your membership and register your product..... so i click Sign In Now.....and there is another pop up with QR code and link to sign in. So I copy link type my email adress and special verification cod, that I got on my email, and password...after that I have a info:

You're signed in

You can now close this window and get back to where you left off.

So I try to lunch my Lr once again, - now I have a new pop up with Licence agreement, and after my acceptation, nothinh happens. The pop up window disappears and I can do nothing. My Lr is still not lunch.

What should I do? I have had Lr 6.0 for many years, bought it in shop with licence from adobe, oryginal version, ca use it on ma old laptop but not on ma new one.

could somebody solve this problem?

@Michal Kondrat Do you read the correct answers here? If no, try the offline activation for LR6.x as described as Solutionj 2 in the linked document.

https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/serial-number-validation-launching-cs6.html

But be aware: if you have reached your activation limit and you don't have any chance to deactivate an older installation you're out of luck. Adobe has stopped the support of Lightroom 6 and the resetting of the actiovation counter isn't possible anymore.

So first of all I have to deactivate on copy of Lr of computer so that the total copy of all my computer, especially witk my new one, was two. In this case it should work?

I bought a new Windows 11 PC and want to move my existing LR .14 to it. I initially purchases LR 3, then upgraded to 6 later and installed the 6.14 patch.  For some reason Adobe only recognizes the LR 3 serial number.  After installation, the activation step want me to log in (which I did, then goes off inter never never land forever.   How can I activeate LR?  Since Adobe doesn't recognize the LR 6 serial number, would I be stuck at LR 3?   On a related note, Adobe doesn't list any activated devices even though I have it installed on two.

Thanks for au suggestions.

When you upgrade from Lr 3 to Lr 6, the installation of Lr 6 requires you to enter the Lr 3 serial number to prove it is an upgrade. So you will have to enter both serial numbers, based upon the question in the dialog box.

Hi,

I had LR6 installed on my old macbook pro. It  went to laptop heaven and the local pc shop apparently de-activated the serial number so at a later stage it could be reused. I am looking to  purchase an old macbook pro. Is it possible to find out if the serial number is indeed still available to use ?, I don't want to buy the macbook if I can't install.

Hope this makes sense ?

thanks in advance

Your local PC shop cannot de-activate software on a computer that has gone to "laptop heaven". Is the laptop still running? Or can they access the hard disk that they removed from the laptop?

Next, go to account.adobe.com, sign in and find the serial number there. I can find mine there, but if you didn't buy from Adobe and didn't register it with Adobe, you won't find it there.

You should also have the Lr 6 serial number stored somewhere so you can find it if you need it. Do you?

Advice: I store mine in a simple text file and then store the text file in "the cloud" so even if my computer dies, the next computer can retrieve it.

Hi,

i would like to download lightroom 6 on my new desktop. But the download link is no longer available by adobe. Is there another link that works to download this old version? Thank you vere much for putting it in this community.

I bought LR6 via John Lewis Partnership iin the UK and have been using it on  an Imac. Unfortunately a series of problems  last week ended in a reinstall from a Time machine backup and LR won't reinstall on OSX 10.15.7. So I tried to install on an older mini using OSX 10.8. It installs but, when I try to validate it with Adobe, the old version of  Firefox ( and the other browsers ) won't allow me to connect because it is, "not a secure connection". It also does that with Apple (!!!), but does allow me to view the BBC site.

Is there another way to validate the install, This Imac secures the connection, just not the Mini.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Many (all?) of the links in this thread that point to the offline activation method for Lightroom 6 now point to something entirely different abpout downloading old Adobe software. The offline activation method for Lr 6 is not mentioned. Nor is Lightroom is not mentioned at all.

And, no one seemed to be complaining that the links are wrong, in fact some of the posts are marked correct, meaning when the links were put there months ago, people must have found the offline activation method worked because the links were correct at that time and explained how the offline activation method worked.

What is going on here?

I have the text of the offline activation method, so I can provide it as needed (but I don't know if it still works at all).

@dj_paige: "Many (all?) of the links in this thread that point to the offline activation method for Lightroom 6 now point to something entirely different abpout downloading old Adobe software. "

It looks like the threads in the Download & Install forum about Lightroom 6 have been cleansed. Adobe has purged posts about downloading old versions of Lightroom in the past, including ones that contained still-working links to Adobe's download servers. I'd guess they're trying to "encourage" users to upgrade to Lightroom or Lightroom Classic.

Meanwhile, these posts in the Lightroom Classic forum are still available:

Hello Everyone.  Wonder if anyone can help.  I am running Lightroom Classic v6.14 very successfully on a PC with Windows 10 v22H2, but realise that I need to upgrade to Windows 11 now that support is ending in October. I am planning to buy a new PC but does anyone have any experience on running LR Classic v6.14 on Windows 11? My gut feel is that it would no longer work, but if it can indeed be done, are there are any instructions as to how to go about it? Thanks so much.
