Question

Duplicate collections and syncing issues

OK, I will try to keep this simple...

  • I used to run Lightroom CC on my MacBook
  • I now run it on a new PC
  • I copied the catalogues etc over to the PC trying to preserve as much as possible
  • I also use Lightroom mobile on my Pixel 2
  • My Lightroom CC is constantly "syncing 199 photos" - these never sync
  • If I create a new catalogue and sync it, it syncs to my mobile but the 199 remain
  • If I sync an existing catalogue from CC it creates a duplicate on my mobile
  • CC says I have files missing but I can see them on my mobile (and in the "All synced photographs" section)

How can I sync all this up so that

1) I don't lose any photos

2) I free up the blocked 199 photos

3) I merge or remove the duplicate collections - again without deleting anything

I no longer have Lightroom on my Mac only on my PC and Mobile

All the photos synced with Lightroom are on an external drive which was connected to the Mac and is now connected to the PC

Thanks!

How do I get the syncing number down as it still shows 199 photos syncing?

Is there a way to have a view of all "missing photos" that I can then use to find or delete them?

You can login at lightroom.adobe.com to do that via the web.

Apologies but, to do what?  Look for missing files or the syncing error?

Whereabouts on lightroom online do I go to achieve this?

Lightroom Classic CC can only sync one single catalog to the cloud. By synching a new one and then synching the old one again, you created the problem of the duplicates. When you sync a different catalog, the connection with the old catalog (and so with the synched images from that catalog) is lost, but the images remain in the cloud (in the past they would have been deleted, but that has changed around the time that Lightroom CC was introduced). It think that the only way to delete them is doing that manually online, by logging into https://lightroom.adobe.com

Could I download all my photos from the online site as there's some I can no longer find since the move?

Would reinstalling lightroom on the Mac give me access again or would lightroom create another unique catalogue?

If these images were synched by Lightroom Classic, then the online versions will only be smart previews, not originals.
