New Here ,

Hi all,

Edited just fine this morning. Come home and tried to launch LRC and get the error saying an error prevented LRC from opening catalog. Read online. Suggests to get rid of the lock file. I do not have a lock file where my LRC catalog is. I have an urgent deadline and need help figuring this out. Please help!

Please provide the exact unedited word-for-word text message. Since I can't see your screen capture or anyone's screen captures, please use the "Insert Photos" icon to include screen captures in your reply.

If you hold down the option key when starting classic, you'll get a dialog where you can check the integrity of a catalog file. Might be worth trying. If none of that works you might need to recover from a catalog backup. If you have a really hard deadline, you can always just create a new empty catalog and do your work in there.

Did you try Jao vdl's suggestion to create a new catalog and start from scratch with that group of photos?

You can do that by holding the Option key while starting Lightroom Classic. On the screen that pops up, at the bottom, you have the choice of starting a new catalog.

@Jao vdL suggested two different things. Which did you try that didn't work?

Then, I suggest you do an uninstall and reinstall of LrC. You do that through the Creative Cloud App. Uninstall, restart your computer and then reinstall.

The other thing to try is to reset the LrC preferences. They do not get reset during a re-install, you have to do that manually.

Don't mean to jump in on someone else's issue, but I have been having the same issue since 2 days ago,  I have uninstalled, reinstalled and it will not open LRC,  same error msg, saying it's an error and will not open LRC, I uninstalled LR, as I don't want to use this one, don't like it.  Now this makes me wonder if it's something to do with this new upgrade.   I have looked for corrupt files.  nothing.   Hearing that this person has a deadline, makes me feel so bad for them.
